Hedman LTs. X-Pipe. T-5. LOTS OF GROUND CLEARANCE!

WHO SAID IT CAN'T BE DONE?!?!?! HAHAHA! here's what we came up with for my buddy's 86 IROC, has an ENORMOUS amount of ground clearance.

-had to cut the ball/socket style collector off the headers and welded on new collectors to help clear the slave cylinder. also wrapped the driver's side header for added heat protection
- i would not suggest doing the exhaust routed like this if you did not have solid motor mounts. my buddy has solid motor mounts in this car, so i didn't hesitate.

ground clearance shot! this is the very lowest point and is ~6" off the ground!

shot from the side, lets you see what's goin' on:

i took a video as well, but it appears that i may have used the wrong format when i did, and now i can't open the file anyhow, what ya'll think?

I dont think anyone said it couldn't be done. Its guys that run aftermarket T-5s with aftermarket torque arm setups and driveshaft safety loops where its a concern. The hookers and dougs both clear the slave cylinder great. Does look like a nice clean install though. I will have to think about using some header wrap where its close to the slave so i don't boil the fluid. Thats a good idea.

<--- BUT i got it done also

Re: Hedman LTs. X-Pipe. T-5. LOTS OF GROUND CLEARANCE!

well, the point was that the hedmans DON'T clear the slave cylinder, and the end result is much better ground clearance than the hooker/doug's headers. i think i could have accomplished the same thing with an aftermarket t5, and if you use a shorter torque arm instead of the big goofy bulky spohn unit that EVERYONE has problems getting exhaust around, than it's not that big of a deal.

power level is great considering it's basically a carbed/cammed l98.

Great Minds think alike....

I wrapped my pipe where it goes by the slave as well. I run a notched cross member though. Just some 3in THICK wall pipe spliced in either side of the trans. Different approach, but all in the quest for ground clearance.

Again, nice work...
