Removing Catalytic Converter
Speaking hypothetically if I were to remove my catalytic converter on my 85 firebird I know it wouldn’t be legal . But if I did would there be any negative effects on my car with the computer or any other problems ? The 02 sensor is located before the cat . Thanks

You could have hypothetically used the
and read the other threads about this topic.
Then you'd find out its better and legal to replace your stock cat with a high performance aftermarket cat from Magnaflow, Catco, or Random Technology. That way you remain legal and dont give us hot rodders a bad name. You can even sell your stock cat to a metal recycling place and get money back for it.

Re: Removing Catalytic Converter
Speaking from a Camaro owner who has had all 4 possibilites of cat/cat delete options (Straight Pipe, Gutted Cat, Regular Cat, and High Flow Cat)... I'm happy with the high flow cat. A gutted cat sounds almost exactly the same. You'll notice the most power with a straight pipe, but it's really not even that much. If you go with a gutted cat or high flow cat you'll have a deep tone. If you go with the stock cat you'll have a hollow tone. and if you have the straight pipe you'll notice a fast medium tone.
It's been said that a 5 horsepower gain is added on a cat delete/cat gut, a 2 horsepower gain is done on a high flow cat.
You will not get any error codes from plugging your Smog Pump, Leaving it hang there, or bending it out of the way.
Hope this helps.
