Going from long tubes to shortys

Ok guys I need your opinion. Based on my set up what do you think is the wiser choice.

Right now the hooker longtube supercomps on my car are pretty thrashed underneath as well as one section of the 2.5in true duals.

Another camaro i have at my house that we dont drive has what i think are supercomp shorty headers ( shortys for sure ) and a single exhaust of what diameter im not sure... maybe 2.5 in.

Should i swap out the smashed and bashed Long Tubes true duals for the shorty single???

Its a ***** to get the long tubes out of my car is the only reason im asking.

Re: Going from long tubes to shortys

i know what you mean, my longtubes only come out if i pull the motor, thats the only way

For your setup a good shorty will do ok, but i'd run the bigger 1 3/4 tube Dyno Dons over the long tubes. I dont think you'll give up much power

Plus with shortys you can still have true duals, just have someone fab up the piping to where the longtubes used to exit

LOL i feel that... man ive done those headers on the floor too many times with the motor in the car...

The only advantages im really lookin forward to are easy starter access and being able to fix the long tubes. I might cut the dented parts out and weld new patches...

you should see em they are smashed to maybe 1in of room on some of the primaries... damn ******* i bought the car from did donuts in his yard alot and i never thought to fix the headers....

If i take the shorties im taking the whole exhaust out of cheapness..

BTW ive been following your build.... mmmmmm 383. I wish i had chosen better heads, mine flow for crap so my power is limited.

Go with the hooker shortys and y pipe paired with a mandrel bent 3" catback of your choice. It will be sufficient for your operation.

*Sigh* I dont mean to be rude, but I know about what is sufficient in my app. etc.

It was more of an A vs B situation.

A - stick with beat up 2210 hooker super comps and true duals
B - ****** the shorty headers and single style exhaust

Oh. I guess I thought you were asking a question, not just stating what was happening in your life

Good luck. Let us know what you're doing. Personally I would go with the shortys, less scraping on stuff. Otherwise ditch the sportline springs and run the supercomps.

Lmao yea my bad... i wanted the opinion of you guys on the two set ups.

I guess its neither here nor there.

Ill take the shorty set for now and fix my supercomps...

Surprisingly i never scrape unless im doing some idiot **** so bashin the headers up really wasnt a problem.

For the record the front springs are some grey set i think hotchkiss..

So what you're saying is.... i need to stop being lazy and break out my welder....

We'll see. If i do it at my Dad's house the welder runs great on the generator but at my house when i plug into the wall socket the welder struggles to work and pops the breaker... and its a 120v welder.

Re: Going from long tubes to shortys

exactly , i built my exhaust by hand and welded it together. never welded or cut pipe before in my life but it went together well. maybe i have a natural talent for it? idk but it wasnt bad man you'll be fine

you do need a very heavy duty electrical line for extension cord if you use a extension. I havent plugged my 115v i think it is into the wall yet but i dont see it causing a problem
