Re: exhaust price estimate

If you're looking for cheap you'll never like the price of all that. For one, I think there is only one set of headers made for a V6 engine in a thirdgen.

Second, you may not want a cat, but its required by federal law on a street-driven car in all 50 states. So you have to have one.

Call up a few local muffler shops and ask them. You can also search online at places like http://www.jegs.com/ and http://www.summitracing.com/ to see what's available.

Re: exhaust price estimate

sorry i went a system for a 350 V8 in a 1983 z28

i might need a cat. but i dont want one. lol

heres what i found from summit

Hooker shorty Competition Headers 160$
Hedman Y 103$
Dynomax Super Turbo Exhaust 188$

and im not sure how much for a cat delete pipe

so with that setup and no cat. tied to a 350ci how do you think it will sound?

very loud since that y-pipe won't match up to those headers.

Re: exhaust price estimate

you need to buy headers specificly for the 82-92 camaro/firebird, with the matching y-pipe for the headers. you can't bolt a y-pipe up to headers it was not designed for. or take the car to an exhaust shop after you have the headers on and have them fabricate a y-pipe for you. my y-pipe cost me $200 mandrel bent installed. have you read the stickeys at the top of the exhaust board about headers? it will help you out alot.

Re: exhaust price estimate

so use the headmen shorty headers instead of the hooker headers?

Re: exhaust price estimate

Hedman 68470 shorties are probably the best quality/performance "budget" headers. Hedman also makes a matching Y-pipe for them.

You wont find cat delete pipes advertised anywhere as they're completely illegal. And it'll sound like a ticket to the cop behind you.

As said above, you have to buy headers and y-pipes from the same company, as they're a matched set and only work with each other. You cannot mix and match headers and y-pipes from different companies, nor to the stock stuff. Just remember, you get what you pay for. I dont think I'll be able to help you any further.
