Mufflex too loud, anything as good or better?

So my LTx is running an LE2 high lift cam and around 11.5-1 compression.. hedman long tubes, dual 2.5 inch, to a flowmastey y-pipe, into a 4 inch mufflex catback with a spintech muffler with dual three inch outlets..

While the sound is great, it is just that GREAT. my old borla catback wide open was quieter than this.. Drone on the freeway is excessive, and it is just too loud.

So. the question is, what is out there as a catback that flows as well or better that is quieter? Should I go back to a borla? TSP rumbler? Magnaflow? I am in the 400+ rwhp range.

thanks!

check out the ultra flows. They flow much more than the spintech and are much quieter

Are you referring to the WLK-17538 4inch inlet and outlet? I would like to keep dual outlets if possible.. my car has no ground fx to hide a single outlet.. it ends up looking unbalanced.

The bad thing about a crossflow muffler is that they don't flow as much as a straight through one does, like the ones with the single outlet.

Yep, but at the same time I went with a 4inch pipe for better flow.. but looking around see folks running hooker catbacks with over 500rwhp over at LS1tech.com granted they are 408s, but I am just wondering if their is a quieter 3inch system that will keep me pretty close in power without the noise.. perhaps a magnaflow catback?

Well, not much input, mmm. Ordered up the magnaflow system. Looks like there will be a 100 mile mufflex system for sale soon.

i would have just replaced the muffler, but it aint mine.
dynomax would have toned it down.
i hated the spintech after about a week. i bought mine used, so it wasnt an issue to ditch the muffler.
i actually sold it for what i paid for the system.

Re: Mufflex too loud, anything as good or better?

I would replace the muffler but I want to keep the dual exits.. AFAIK there is no replacement that will fit this system with the 4 inch in, dual three inch out, I am not sure that flowmaster would be much of an improvement.. I am just going to put a cutout at the merge collector. For me the mufflex is too aggressive, I want power but don't need to advertise it quite so much!

This whole car is a learning tool, three different catbacks, three different gauge setups, four different engines, three t56s, two rear ends, three sets of springs, two sets of roll bars, three different intake systems, three different brake systems, four paint jobs (newest in progress).. Jeez! learn alot and spend alot.. it helps that the car has been in my life for 27 years.. I am hoping my son will get to help my do the next engine swap just like I used to help my dad with it.

If they can take it out unmangled, the mufflex will make it to the F/S section.. For now, no inquiries please as I can't really give a solid answer.
