K I have the 89 rs stock lo3 tbi. lots needs to be done to it. Thing is money is tight. I am going to order the kyb gt2 set & I also wanted to get some kind of go faster parts also. Want to start with the exhaust. Here is my plan.
Flowtech long tube, to off road H, then to Dynomax Race Bullet Mufflers, ending some place before the rear axle. The pipes will be 3" out of the headers all the way back. Will this work? Yes I have smog but dont need it since I drive it only in the summer. Can find the info on the smog delete. I will keep it all dont worry. I have to get visual inspection, but thats it. I can swap when needed. Let me have your info please. Dont know it all, but with little to no money this is a cheep set up. Do i have o2's? or need the o2's if it does have them?

If you're going with long tubes, go with the Hedmans rather than the Flowtechs. Much better quality.
Yes, you have one O2 sensor, in the driver's side exhaust manifold, and yes, you need it. You'll need an O2 sensor bung welded into the collector of the driver's side header, and a longer wire to get to it.
Having the exhaust dump in front of the axle probably isn't legal, and will be annoyingly loud in the passenger compartment. 3" duals don't fit very well because the torque arm takes up the space you need to run the left exhaust pipe. 2-1/2" duals will be more than enough for anything with TBI on it, and will tuck up a little better (not much, but better). Ground clearance will suffer with long tubes regardless of what you do. Shorties with a good y-pipe and single 3" will handle anything with TBI on it. And, you can run it in the stock location without sacrificing ground clearance, and be legal (which is another way of saying "safe").

How much worse can it be I mean we are talking about a huge price range. Any one have pics of the lower side showing some long tube's? I was looking to spend under $500 for everything.

it can never be easy. Well the basic coated short Hedman headers are listed at over $1000. They dont have any non coated shorty's in stock right now. The long tube Flowtech headers are only $140 shipped brand new.

You are looking at the wrong items. On a budget this will do
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
$151
and the y pipe for it
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
$119
After that is in place you can finish off with this.

I will go with the headers wrapped if its ok, and the y pipe. I do want the car to be loud so I picked the dynomax 12inch x 4inch round straight open muffler with 3inch in & out. Wonder if It will fit under the car ok if I dump it before the axle? its only one more inch bigger the the 3" pipe will be. Want to do that to be loud, & save money also.

It isn't. It voids the warranty, for what that's worth. Wrap collects moisture and will rust them out even quicker. And, it is bulky, taking up valuable space.

Much like women (same could be said by women of men), what originally attracted you to them tends to become annoying when you have to live with it full time.
Re: what should I do! Ready to buy, but what do I buy?
There is a diffrence between sounding loud and sounding good. If you go with headers hi flow cat and a flowmaster muffler it will sound good. If you also upgrade the cam it will sound great and LOUD. If your on a tight budget you have to do it right the first time.

The ceramic coating keeps the pipes from rusting. It also keeps the heat in the exhaust gases, which is a performance benefit, but mainly keeps the underhood temperatures down. The coating process doesn't warp the tubing, but may help prevent warping in use.

That isn't a legal street muffler. It also isn't much of a muffler. Dumping under the car is not legal in any of the 50 states.

About the header wrap I guess i should have worded that question better. The c/coating is more then the header unless I get the elite's (still out of my price range). So Now that Im heart broke hanging my head, would like to know if you would recommend wrap or bare metal headers? The water part would suck yes but after I put a motor in the wifes car I get my daily driver back so Camaro will not be in the rain much.
So you see bro im stuck. 3 years and 350 miles in this car. It needs shocks, & struts since it bounces all over the road in turns. Yes its bad. almost wrecked once. Other side the motor sucks. Its way to slow to want to drive. Mpg? ha is that a joke? My 74 dodge van gets better mpg so it just sitts. No fun, Not safe, gas hog. My only other opption is to just buy the c/coated headers, & let them sit for a year. That Would suck worse then my job lol. Know you know my sittuation, what would you do?

Sounds like you've got more urgent issues to address than exhaust.
I don't know about Hedman's coating. I've heard that the header manufactures only coat the outside - not good. I've also heard Hooker coats theirs inside & out, but if you order headers/y-pipe w/ceramic coating, only the headers are coated (although coated inside & out).
Too much conflicting data for me to digest.
I do know that Jet-Hot coats them inside & out. Coating for the last set of long tubes I had done was $285 plus shipping. Mention TGO and they'll give you a 10% discount (I've heard - they gave me a 10% discount as a returning customer).
