what u guys think

looking at putting some hedman longtubes on

now im between the HED-68460 i can get them for bout $120 new or the tork steps for bout $220

are they worth the $100 more price?this is goign on a pretty much stock 305 TBI,i also have deleted all the smog(aside from egr, which will go soon)& A/C

so this gonna be a a pain to install with a 700r4?

my stepup will be LTs,Xpipe, and some mufflers before the axle. should i go 2 1/2 or 3in?

what yall think?

Re: what u guys think

I believe most will say long tubes on a 305 isn't really worth the pain. Shorties are going to be the easiest and can come with a y-pipe. I have a 350 and shorties, and I just bought the hedman 68460's for my car. They should be here in a few days. They are made to work with the 700r4 and I have the t-5 so I will have to do some custom work while you may or may not. Some have said they had to grind some areas on the car and/or replace the motor mounts. I am going 3in into a y to my cat back for now.

Re: what u guys think

I would say just do it because the hedmans are pretty cheap and most say good things about them.

Re: what u guys think

im in the process of installing my hedman longtubes on my 89 iroc and i had to saw a piece of the A arm and im grinding off some metal in the driver side. they are a headache but im sure itll be worth it in the end. first time putting in headers in anything and im on my third day and i just barely put in the driver side. i cant wait to put in the passenger!!!! haha hope that helps a little. ill put up pictures and a video of the final results.

yea man i got mine on and the xpipe...thier still not person,i have a leak, the motor mount is holding it up,i thought it was just the a arm, which that was fixed, but guess gonna have to pull the header out and beat on it..glad i got some copper gaskets.

also i have about 3ins of ground clearnce from the muffler to street.....so guess im gonna need to find another muffler setup..but damn i love it being so quiet it never gets raspy just low and smooth even at wot,and the car deff picked up alot.

You are going to have a bunch of problems with that T-5 and those headers. I've tried it, you have to make an indent on the collector of the drivers side header for the header to clear the slave cylinder. Personally its not worth the effort.

You might even have to weld. But good luck to you!

Re: what u guys think

it was custom made out of a x pipe made for a 99-04 mustang,i can tell a huge difference...pulls better all the way through the rpms...even my topend picked up compred to open headers...it runs 10x better with this than open headers.

the back end kicks out everytime i shift in to 2nd now,and it pulled a mid 90s GT on the highway..which was also nice, lol
