I am installing hedman 68460 long tube headers on my 89 camaro and it has aluminum heads. What should I torque the bolts too? I think someone said 25 foot pounds? I don't have a torque wrench but may be able to borrow one. Or can I do it just by feel? Thanks.

 

Are your header bolts 7/16" head? If so, just tighten them with a standard combination wrench.

Or, borrow a torque wrench. I believe Auto Zone will loan you one. Of course, there are a few bolts you can't get a socket on, anyway.

 

Ya I noticed that you couldn't get the socket on some so I prb. just do it by hand. Well the 11mm works and I can't remember the standard size. I only have standard wrenches but for the socket I used the 11mm for some reason, just can't remember the standard right now lol.

 

I just tighten my headers bolts to "good'n'tight" but dont overtighten them. You dont want to strip out the aluminum.
