MAGNAFLOW cat back..are you happy?

who here has some pics of the magnaflow catback on an iroc? would love to seem some..bout to invest in one..

also, are you happy with it, sound and performance? im looking to mellow out my exhaust..cuz right now its just too much drone at all rpms...interior drone is too much, and makes nite driving difficult too..

i have edelbrock shorty headers going to a cat (delete) and dumping out a flowmaster...

do you think the magnaflow will be more mellow? gonna go with part # 16829 cat back kit...

any pics would be great with reposnses.. whatcha guys think? lemme know..thanx

Re: MAGNAFLOW cat back..are you happy?

Ill "try" to get pics for you tomarrow. Its not in the car but ill set it all out with the 2055s, cat delete, cat back.

Only thing i've done to it already is cut off the cat flange. I then had it expanded to 3" id to slip over my SS cat delete pipe.

Re: MAGNAFLOW cat back..are you happy?

While I am not in a camaro I do have a chev 350 in mine with the magnaflow and I really like it. Keep in mind the one I got is the 4th gen version as I bought it before the 3rd gen version came out. It's quiet while driving around town with a little bit of rumble just to let others know your there, but at wide open it SCREAMS quite nicely. I try not to do that near my house hehe! Check out the soundclips of others rides, thats how I made my decision.

Quality wise it looks pretty nice when you open it up, I've had mine on the car about... a year? My only slight beef with them is I would have liked a smaller pipe out the back, it's just a bit too big in scale to the car (3" pipe to a 3.5" tailpipe opening).

Re: MAGNAFLOW cat back..are you happy?

like the above post, it is somewhat quiet at idel but will get louder when revved up. i would like to see it a little louder at idle personally. i have a built 406 and it sounds like a stock iroc with flows at idle.....which is still cool too because no one will suspect a thing until i romp on it, then its too late.

Its not a flowmaster, of course I'm happy with it, haven't installed it yet but my setup is the same as everyone else, but a 305 TBI. SS and got mine for $315 WOOT WOOT!

Re: MAGNAFLOW cat back..are you happy?

Here is a vid of mine in an otherwise stock 305 RS. This was taken shortly after install. I dont have any wide open vids yet. The car currently getting a 383 swapped and Hooker 2210s and a Mufflex Y. I will be sure to take vids and post them later.

Count me up as happy with the sound and appearance of the Magnaflow System.

Re: MAGNAFLOW cat back..are you happy?

I am very happy with my Magnaflow catback. The only issue I had was the hangers didn't match up to my car so I had to fabricate new hangers, but that's probably because my car already had a 2.5" catback on it. I also took it to a friend who does welding and had a few of the joints spot welded so they wouldn't move. I just did that so I know it will never get knocked loose or out of alignment, it wasn't strictly necessary.

I love my system. For the peace of being drivable and not being obnoxious these are hands down the best by far, IMO. But trust me when you stomp on it she'll give you the bite you want!

Re: MAGNAFLOW cat back..are you happy?

My 85 came with a Magnaflow muffler and no cat. I like the sound at idle, and cruising, but not too keen on the wot sound. Still better than stock!!!

Re: MAGNAFLOW cat back..are you happy?

I have the Magnaflow but in my opinion it is a little too quiet, but that may be because of the original cat still on my exhaust.

BTW when you step on the gas it'll scream. (Without the annoying resonance of flowmasters)
