Just a Header Question.
After a few fruitless searches, I figured I'd ask this:
I'm looking for some new headers, and my cylinder heads have a "D" port on them. I've noticed a considerable price difference between standard port and "D" port headers. Is there or would there be any drawbacks to running standard port headers on the "D" port heads? I'm just trying to save a few bucks is all, any input I would appreciate. Thank you!

Do you have access to a welder that can handle thin walls, and a die grinder?

You can buy the cheaper round port headers, and modify them to fit the D port head better....(I believe five7kid was going to say same thing)...I did this on my headers and it lines up perfectly.....Also you CAN run round port headers (standard) on a D port head...just get a decent name brand gasket....it's not perfect, but I've run that setup on my other camaro for years.....

Yes, I was going to say port match round port headers. If you just grind, you'll remove part of the weld that holds and seals the tube. By welding round the tube on the outside of the flange, you can then port match to the D-port. You may have to reweld a gasket seal bead on the inside surface of the flange, which means you'll also have to somehow get them all back to a flat plane afterward - a mongo belt sander works great for that.

Ok, I'll give that a shot. Thank you both for the replies!
