Hooker 2460
So I recently installed a set of hooker 2460 headers and did a terrible hack job on the y-pipe. Looking for a cheaper altenative than the hooker y-pipe I came across the doug's headers ypipe , which looks identical to the hooker but is nearly half the price.Ordered it and then took it took a local exhaust shop and had them make the connecting pipe in 3" to replace the supplied pipe(2-1/2") and it fit perfectly...for 1/2 the money
So if anyone is cosidering the 2460s get the dougs y and you are good to go.

GREAT INFO!!! Thank you for posting this. This answers the question I had asked here:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exha...ugs-d9101.html
I guess the only mods you had done at the exhaust shop were because you wanted 3" outlet right? I think you are saying the dougs y-pipe would fit the hooker 2460 headers with no mods if someone was OK with 2.5", right?
THANKS!

Re: Hooker 2460
Yes it was, but 1 bolt on each side was a tad difficult to get started.I can't say how well it bolts to the the exhaust since I replaced the 2-1/2 with 3, but it fit the headers perfect with the exception of 1 bolt being tough to fit through the flanges, like the collector part of the pipe was a bit larger than a 3" collector. Overall I am very pleased with the y-pipe.

Re: Hooker 2460
I'm about ready to install the 2460's, and planning the rest of the
exhaust system. Muffler will be the Magnaflow 3" cat-back system.
Besides price, the obvious drawback is that 2.5" outlet.
But looking at the pictures, the Dougs unit appears to have ball/seat
connectors, and the 2460 headers definitely have flat-flange/gasket
connectors. bgood, are you sure you didn't start w/ 2055's, which
have the ball/seat connectors?
Pending how all this shakes out, I was considering the 16767 unit,
and trying to modify the outlet. Initial thought was to cut off that
short outlet a bit further up the Y connector. Hopefully, it won't
take to much to get to 3", than weld on a new section of 3" pipe.

Re: Hooker 2460
FYI,
I have now installed the Dougs y-pipe with my hooker 2460 headers. It fits pretty well.
No modification required to fit the flat flange hooker header collectors. The doug's piece is not ball & socket. It is flanged, but the flange is just loose. The doug's y-pipe comes with 3-bolt collector gaskets, so it is definately not for ball & socket.
Also if you look up the doug's headers that are intended for use with this y-pipe, you will see they are the flat flange type, just like the hooker 2460's.
I did have to modify my deeper than stock Summit oil pan a little to make room for the y-pipe to go under the engine. If you have a non-stock pan, this may be a concern. Other than my oil pan problem, the dougs y-pipe bolts to the hooker headers like it was meant to do so.
FYI, I stayed 2.5" for now and bolted the dougs y-pipe it up to a dynomax catback kit that was also 2.5". The dougs pipe comes in two pieces, the "y" and the "cat extension." In my application I had to shorten the "y" about 1.5" where it connects to the "cat extension" in order for the dynomax stuff to fit up right. This might just be my car, might be the catback or might be the dougs y-pipe. It was an easy cut made with a wrap-around tail pipe cutter. You could do it with a hacksaw if you were willing to pull the y-pipe off to do it. I did it with the y-pipe still on.
I'm satisfied so far with the dougs y-pipe/hooker headers combo. But my car is not yet roadworthy and i've only driven it a very small amount with the combination.

Re: Hooker 2460
Well put 327chevy. I had the bend and extension pipe done in 3" to match my cat back. The only problem is that I welded the bend to the y off the car and its too long and hits the pich weld. I'm hoping to fix that this weekend.

To both bgood & 327,
Detailed clarification of the pics is invaluable.
Well done guys, and thanks again.
