I'm looking to make my 2.8 V6 Camaro sound better....what would be the cheapest way to achieve a good sound?

 

well power makes sound. If your engine is low compresion it will not sound good. even if you put a nice exhaust on your car it will sound crappy in my opinion. if i were you I drop a v8 in there or get a v8 third gen. good luck.

 

Search for Best mufflers for a v6 .

 

well stay away from flowmaster as they make the v6's sound *****....

maybe a glasspack or turbo muffler

I disagree. I have a 91 3.1L with a Flowmaster DeltaForce race muffler and a Crane PowerMax Cam and it sounds excellent. Ill try to get a sound clip on here to let you hear it. It's kinda on the loud side, even at idle. But it sounds great when you get on it.

 

but you have a CAM..stock gm 2.8 sounds like crap loud...ask me how i know lol

i did for a bet.......now it has a nice turbo muffler and doesnt sound like a old detriot diesel grain truck

 

but, it DID NOT make a difference with the sound, only the idle and the low to mid power. I know how thw 2.8's sound too. not much different than the 3.1's.....oh and sorry, i didn't realize that i said a 91. i was thinking of my buddy's. iv'e got a 92. AND, do a search on the 2.8's in the s10's and blazers. they had slightly different cam, valve train geometry and pistons to create more bottom end power.

so after taking a camaro 2.8 and pulling the intake/cam out i put in the tbi on with a new s10 cam with camaro heads....you telling me mine runs how according to different geometry?

a 60* gm v6 is a 60* gm v6

im just saying....and quick call to my dad who is a lifelong gm mechanic said the same thing.....no difference in head design. I am putting a 3.4 in my s10 so i guess ill pull my 2.8 out and document the camaro head'd s10 cam'd setup

My 2.8 was commonly mistaken for a V8 at idle

Get a lumpy cam and a test pipe. Stock muffler sounds fine

The down side is everyone will know its a V6 when you move

 

best muffler for a v6 is the quietest one you can find. They all sounds retarded with anything noisy on them. save yoru penny's for a real motor.

Ill try to get a sound clip on here, but the DeltaForce really does sound good on a V6. I've had many compliments from it. Like I said, it is a little on the loud side, but it's a good kind of loud. It makes my little motor rumble! lol.

 

You might get something that will come close to a v8 sound at idle. Once you give it gas though you will know the difference due the crappy raspy sound.

 

I just watch the video and many more that had 2.8L with flowmaster and other performace exhaust. To me they just sounds noisy. they have no nice v8 muscle car sound to it.
