Votes on Exhaust

Hello Everyone,

After a very long 4 years my restoration is nearly complete. My last large puchase is a new exhaust. After listening to tons of sound clips, I still cannot make a decision. So, I need your help. Please help me decide between the Magnaflow, Flowmaster, or SLP Loudmouth systems. Below is my engine information and desired exhaust sound.

Mildly build 350 with Accel high flow runners, base, and ported plenum.
AFR 180 heads
Hooker 2055 headers with y-pipe
Lingenfelter cam

I want an exhaust that obviously sounds like a muscle car but I was it to sound somewhat refined. I have put tons of soundproofing in the interior but still do not want an annoying loud echaust. I loved teh SLP system but the clip I heard almost sounded like a truck at idle.

Anyhow, please help me decide! I am going to make a decision by tomorrow evening.

Thanks!

TTT

It is a tie between Flowmaster and SLP. I need some other input since I am indecisive.

I enjoy my Hooker catback for the reasons you mention above. At idle, the sound is throaty but tame. At WOT, the snarl is nasty. At cruise, you can listen to music or converse.

Re: Votes on Exhaust

Thanks everyone! I like Magnaflow a lot but read on the boards that it does not sounds good with TPI. Is that true?

I was not even considering Hooker but may now.

Either way, I am going to make my purchase at 12:00 a.m. EST.

Re: Votes on Exhaust

My vote goes to SLP LM2 with cats. The cats get rid of a lot of the rasp. I personally do not care much for the Flowmaster 80 series. It's too quite and is terrible flowing. I kind of like the Magnaflow but not much either. It's almost louder when you let off the throttle.

Re: Votes on Exhaust

I VOTE FOR EITHER THE HOOKER AEROCHAMBER OR MAGNAFLOW...... i disagree with the magnaflow being loud when your not on the gas.ive had 2 different systems with magnaflows......

Re: Votes on Exhaust

I like the fact that the Magnaflow system is stainless steel, so I am leaning towards it right now. Although I am going to research the Hooker Aerochamber.

Re: Votes on Exhaust

Just got my magnaflow put on and I'm all smiles. I can pull into my neigborhood at night and not be too obnoxious but when I get on it, it gets mean as hell. Good muscle car sound nice and deep. Got it from Banditexhaust for 316 shipped so it is at a closer price to the flowmaster exhaust then you think.

How did you get it so cheap??? The online price is $433.81 plus shipping...

If you can get it that cheap, let me know how!

Re: Votes on Exhaust

Go to banditexhaust and chose make offer instead of buy it now. I made an offer at 320 and they sent back a price of 316 shipped.
