I currently have one and am highly impressed. I put one link below but this is not the best one. I will post more shortly. I am somewhat biased though as I am a Magnaflow distributor. For me, the stainless steel construction is worth it. The kits are easy to install in about 1-2 hours time depending on how hard it is to remove your current system.

The sound is somewhat reserved at idle but as soon as you get on it, it sounds very similar to an older muscle car.

It connects directly the the back side of your catalytic converter via 2 bolts. Just be aware that most likely your tranny/catalytic converted cat hanger bracket will most likely be shot. If you do a search you can find a link on how to repair them for about $14 as GM no longer offers them.

Re: magnaflow exhuast system! got a few question's for ya owners of them.

Correct, right behind the cat.

As for high flow, any of the major brands would be good. Catco is on the cheaper end. If yours is fine I would not replace it unless you have done major engine mods. Remember, your engine is like a big air pump. Unless you have opened the top end, going to a larger exhaust will have minimal effects. Now saying that, a better flowing exhaust will help a stock engine. However, going to a different cat may give you only around 5 hp.

Installed my 3" magnaflow cat-back a few months ago and still enjoying the sound/looks. Took only one night and a 15mm socket to put the whole system together and on the car. I did have to buy new hangers though as the stock ones don't match up exactly right. Well worth it for the look of the stainless steel and sound at WOT

Here's my two cents...

Pro's: Excellent construction and it looks great!

Cons: Mild sound & no noticeable power gain. Also, most of the hangers didn't match up so I had to fab them.

Hope this helps.

thanks i just though it might be better to go along with an exhaust system but i might just use the money and buy something else instead of the cat.

Yeah I did have to saw off the old exhaust but I just rented a exhaust pipe cutter from autozone (free) and it took maybe 5 minutes per cut, only took 2 cuts to get rid of the old exhaust. Not sure about selling the old exhaust as I just tossed mine.

Re: magnaflow exhuast system! got a few question's for ya owners of them.

The previous owner put the Magnaflow cat a TSP cat-back on the car, so I really have no clue how bad the exhaust was before, or if he just wanted to change it.

The pipes are all mandrel bent, and the y-pipe connection for the rear split for dual outs is good merge, not just a simple t-connection.

It is a Magnaflow muffler, just the pipes were bent & designed by somebody else. So it is a "Magnaflow cat back" just not made by Magnaflow themselves.

The contention that the "TSP Rumbler" is "every bit as good" is laughable.

A couple winters in Oregon and you'll need a new one. The Magnaflow on the other hand will be around for many more years with it being stainless.

That would be a difference between mild steel & stainless, not the exhaust brand itself.

Mine is almost 4 years old & looks the same as it did brand new. Here in Texas, paying extra for stainless is a waste of money & just a person's way of stroking their ego. "I've got stainless!"

Maybe you should consider the OP's place of residence before opening your yap about how great a part works in Texas.

By doing that you're giving him incorrect information, and essentially wasting his money.

He asked for EXHAUST, not specifying stainless or otherwise. It's not up to me, as to how much salt the car sees. Besides....All the cold climate people tuck their toys away half of the year. In that case, the salt is no longer a concern, nor is there a big need for stainless.

Up to HIM, not you, how he drives his car, when he drives his car, & how much he wants to spend on something.

As usual, wrong. Just stick to your knowledge of Texas.

It boils down to this.....

He asked about exhaust. I showed him some. It is up to him to decide which to go with. He doesn't need you to hold his hand.

I know this is cheesy but I bought some long metal peg-hooks from Ace. Cut the ends off them and just bent them (after all, their just metal). They worked great but I would recommend using a vice... it made bending them much easier.

You have comprehension issues.

He asked specifically about Magnaflow exhaust. Then you implied your TSP is an equal substitution, and its not.

iroc stangs- If you drive your car in the winter weather, do yourself a favor and get a brand that is stainless. Aluminized systems will rot out in literally a couple of years.

Ive heard magnaflow is one of the most breathable exhausts. Ive got hooker competition headers, y-pipe, 3" all the way back to dual 3.5" tips. no cats. This set up REALLY rumbles!! I would highly recomend Magnaflow.

Good luck with your decision!
