2055 good?

What is all the hubbub about the hooker 2055's? From what I gather, they are still 1 5/8 primaries and shorties. I did a search, and mostly came up with a bunch of posts with people just saying "get the 2055's, they are the best". What makes them so great? I have always used the Edelbrocks because they fit well and seem to work well (I know other people will say otherwise), so I've never tried anything else.

Re: 2055 good?

the same hooker shorties that are on my car were on a 91 rs with a 406 small block cranking 420 to the wheels. could have done long tubes but didnt at that time. im not going to be going for over 400hp so they will work great for me.

I'm sure you meant 2460's.

2055's do come with the A.I.R. tubes, but they aren't that hard to cut off and weld shut (see vBGarage). The posted pic doesn't show that area.

As for the "magic" of 2055HKR's - best off-the-shelf emissions-legal package for '86-'90 TPI single cat application; best mandrel-bent y-pipe off-the-shelf available; can be used on most any non-emission SBC 3rd gen set-up (including LT1).

Other than that, no, nothing special about them.

Re: 2055 good?

Exactly what five7kid said.

It's the y-pipe that makes them so special.

Plus, like five7kid also stated, I like the fact that they have the AIR tubes so I can keep everything nice and legal.

Sorry to throw in a wrench but if you spending the money for 2055s then you should contact Dyno Don and get a set of his headers. I recently recieved mine and they are beautiful with larger primaries.

Thanks. So the 2460's are the same, other than the A.I.R. tubes? I'll search a bit and see if I can answer my own question.

No. The 2460's don't share anything with the 2055's.

Re: 2055 good?

Don't buy from Dyno Don......If you don't want to go faster

Seriously...they are good headers.

I have an old set of Edelbrocks with the AIR's and the tubes are different diameters (not all 1 5/8")!!
