exhaust leak help
exhaust leak help
got hedman long tube headers and true dual exhaust on my car. so before i can even hear the exhaust i have to get pushrods replaced so after i get all that done i go start up the car and it has a horrible exhaust leak. i took it to a shop and had em do all the gaskets but it is still leaking im not sure if its the flange or at the motor. i want to know how i cna fix it do i need better gaskets or new headers( was told they might be warped) also one of the header bolts is like half way screwed in could tht be the problem and if so how can i get to it to tighten it cause its in the very back?

if your header's not completely bolted in place, that may be your issue. however, to know exactly where its leaking, you'll have to start 'er up and feel for any air blowing by. I had bad luck with paper gaskets on my last install and opted for the copper gaskets between the head and header. they do a better job of sealing if you've got a slightly warped flange.

thnx man yea tht bolts not tight and i put my hand near it and i can feel hot air coming from it so i got a set of mr.gasket gaskets there not paper there aluminum exhaust gasket gonna try them out. is it a hard job to do a gasket for the exhaust i really dont wanna pay sumone over $100 to do this so i figure i could do it since its just bolts i know not to torgue too tight any adsvice on the install would be much appreciated

if its just the flange gasket, you can do it yourself with a basic socket set. undo all of the bolts holding the header to the head. the outer two bolt holes in the gasket usually are shaped like an upside down "U" so you can install the outer most bolts and use them to hold the gasket in place while you screw the other bolts
