They have a good price anyways. And I like that they are stainless.

Lots of people have complained on these forums about them being low quality chinese junk.
I have never seen these on a car from here if you get them post results.

Damn that's cheap, wonder if they fit.

Yes that was my question. I did send them an e-mail to find out more specks on them. For that price I might buy them just so I can post info on here. Take one for the team!!Originally Posted by Tony89GTA

the collector looks real small, wanna bet the primaries are only 1.5 or so. Weird that it says not for TPI. What would be the issue? not the O2 bung, TBI would need that too.

Well I have been searching everywhere to find more info. There are two different places on E-Bay that are selling them. The one that I e-mailed replied and said they had no specs on them. I did find another person on here from an earlier post said that they also where pacesetter knock offs. But he also said that he has installed this X-Tune brand on some other cars and for the money they where not to bad. He said you might have to do some work to get them to seal to the header and they use a cheaper grade of stainless but not bad over all. I found other auto parts places on the web selling them so I did get some info back from one of them that said the exhaust tubs are 1 1/2. But thats all I have. I know most folks like the 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 but for me 1 1/2 would be big enough. If they are made for stock hookup then the Y pipe should be 2 1/2. And even though they are listed for a 5.0 I am going to put them on a 5.7. I just need something to replace the stock setup as I am doing an engine swap but do not have the $500 for a set of hookers or headman's. So I am going to take a gamble. If they only last a few years then I will upgrade later.Originally Posted by deviantpitbull

The problem is I need to keep the emissions stuff and I need the Y pipe. If I could get the 2055's for that kind of price then it would be a no brainer. I can not under stand why they double the price of a set of headers just because they add a few small emissions tubes. Sounds like a racket to me. Taking advantage of folks that need the emissions stuff to stay legal. Just my 2 cents.Originally Posted by RockJay81

I read the info real quick and its says high output tpi (im guessing the dual cats and prob even the 3" single) so it should be fine.. they look to have the small flanges like another brand name ... and its not slp if you know where im going

Better read more carefully:
Will NOT work with 82-87 High output tuned port injection.
I don't know why it wouldn't work, I can only assume they mean they're too small for those cars, probably 1.5" primaries and 2.5" collectors.

Well mine is not 82-87. And unless you are trying to push over 300 ponys then 1.5" primaries will work just fine. In which I am not. I am thinking that they are talking about ones with the duel CAT setup as it comes with the Y pipe.Originally Posted by Twin_Turbo

oh ok well if your staying within the emissions standards then get the headers you need. but im would stay away from ebay when it comes to engine needs. maybe interior or lil stuff. you could get the ones you need from a member here for cheap or just save your money and get the $400 ones. better to do it right the first time then to do it twice.

I also need the emmission junk. And I really don't see a point to buy $500 headers w/y-pipe for my stock low performance 305. My factory manifolds and y-pipe aren't in the greatest shape. So, i'm thinking about replaceing them. 1.5 inch primaries would still be an improvement over the factory setup on my car. And if those ebay headers w/y-pipe fit I'll buy them too. Well, keep us updated. I for one would really like to know how they work out.

Better read the fine print carefully ALL of it. Check out the 20-30 brokerage fees on top of everything else. No instructions....seems about the only way to get your $ back is to claim you ordered the wrong part. May only do an exchange, no instructions, basically they know its cheap stuff so youre on your own.
Id be shocked if it was stainless for that price, sure isnt chrome plate but for $163 cant expect much.

i totally understand bro. but hey if you get the expensive stuff you can always swap it over to a 350/355/383 or 400 sbc. if you are ever going to go bigger you wont loose the money. i just had alot of bad experiences with ebay parts. when i was doing my LS swap i had to rebuy alot of things. now i have a garage full of extra ls **** i cant use lol just be careful and do your research and take your time.

OBX knockoffs are what they are.
They are Stainless steel, just Chinese 304 with unknown fillers.
They turn blue and brown.
Flanges are thick compared to most headers sold and made here. 3/8's on the kids Sonoma ones. Good welds and the tube thickness is probably 18 gauge which is thin in header standards, but again this is stainless so???The ball connection on my kids sucked, but nothing a little work and some copper seal didn't take care of.
Time will only tell whether the Chinese stainless will hold up and not crack is really my only negative thought on these but since they were less than half the cost of Pacesetters on truck and problems with the pacesetters were enormous, we went this way and so far so good. 2 months on then, like I said, there blue and brownish about 8 inches from the exhaust port, but they are holding up well as of now.

Ok I did order a set of these X-Tune headers. I will post pictures when I get them. We will see first hand if they are worth the money.

Why do people value stainless? Its gonna chip and crack eventually it just takes longer. Ceramic is what you want. Don't bother replacing them if your not gonna get something worth the money.

Also aftermarket headers are coated in groups and a group buy discount which discounts processes in the process to get the price down.
So now you have cost versus cost for about the same length of life.
Only sending them out to Jet Hot, better yet, Swain tech can a set be done properly and the life be extended to yeild a better return on the dollar spent.

I have a pair on my 90 silverado for the past 4 years no cracks. But they don't seal for ****. i had file the flange to get good seal to the heads. and stainless? they look worse then my old cracked cast iron manifolds...consider them field tested and they are junk not even worth their weight in scrape.

^ see thats living proof. Not someone who has had them for a week and spouting how absolutely amazing they are.
The headers showed up yesterday but have not had time to test fit them yet. But all in all they look really good. I am going to have them powder coated before I install them. I will take some pictures of them when I test fit them. And then some more pictures after I get them powder coated.
Here are some pics of the headers on the engine. I was doing a test fit and they seem to fit just fine. Not sure about the Y pipe yet but it looks like it should fit just fine. The header flange also seems nice and flat. With a good set of header gaskets it should seal up just fine. If I have to i will double up the header gaskets.

I have 2 buddies that went to 2 different shops stating the powder coating would hold up. Both had miserable luck with it lasting.
Any updates?

The headers are at my firends being powder coated. He said they will hold up if you do it right. When you first start the engine with headers that have been powder coated you have to slow heat them. Only run the engine for a few minutes then let them cool. The the next time run the engine a little longer and let them cool and so on. I have the old engine just about ready to come out of the car. Going to finish that on sunday. I will keep you posted. Once I get the new engine in with the headers I will post a video with sound.Originally Posted by JR350tpi

just subscribing to the thread...college kid on a budget, and the Camaro doesn't get driven as often any more, so they wouldn't see every day use.
Btw, could you tell me the actual diameters of the primaries, collector outlets, and y-pipe outlet? Thanks!

OK, I found the stats for Pacesetter ones on Summit. Here are the pics for comparison:

Here's the stats:
Primary Diam: 1 5/8
Collector Diam: 2 ½
Flange Thickness: 3/8
IF the dimensions remain fairly the same (who knows, they're copies), then according to the Summit specs, they have 1 5/8 primaries. Still only 2.5 collectors and Y-pipe (driver's side collector looks a bit smaller than passenger side in pic?), but for someone like me (LG4 and 2.5 catback), dimension-wise they should be OK; primaries are bigger than flowtech shorties, anyways. And these are $170 less than Pacesetters (as of this point in time; price has started going up in in the past year).
Note: I'm only posting this for those in the future who may be looking for dimensions on these; I have nothing to say for the quality; that's a deciding factor they have to determine for themselves. If I get these, I'm willing to post as time goes on as to how they're holding up.

I like them better, but they're close enough to the same price for me that I, personally, am looking more towards the one with an included y-pipe. That, and if/when I move to a state with inspection, the Pacesetter ones would accept a smog pump if I had to add one back on.
It's still good you posted these on this thread. These and the ones mentioned before seem to be the main two "cheap stainless headers" for our cars available on ebay; to have 'reviews' of both on the same thread will be beneficial to others in the future.

i just took a pair of these to get installed in my 1985 trans am and the will not fit. i was thinking it was mabe because i have a 350 instead of a 305 but i dont think it would make that much of a difference.

It shouldn't make a difference; an SBC is an SBC. There may be a difference between a long and short block, but I've never heard anything exhaust related about it (correct me if I'm wrong, those more experienced)Originally Posted by isr85-T/A

Did you get the Pacesetter copies or the Flowtech copies? And did the shop say what about them wasn't fitting?
Sorry to the OP; I kinda hijacked the thread it seems.

they were the zomk speed (pacesetter) copy, the shop told me that the tubes stuck out to far they hit the inner fender wall and could not be bolted onto the heads. i know the guy in the shop and he also owns a third gen camaro and he has bolted headers on his car before so i know when he tells me it wont fit i know he is right. you guys go ahead and try them out but i know i got riped off. ebay never again.

Yeah, I took a closer look at PA91Z28's pics of his test fit, and it does seem like they may stick out further than other headers, at least on the passanger side. There seems to be quite a gap between them and the spark plugs (though maybe he's using the shorter plugs?). I think I might wait to see if he puts the motor in before I would be able to install them to see if he has the same problem.Originally Posted by isr85-T/A

Sorry guys I have not been on here for a while. I do have the old motor out but it might be a while before I get the new one in as I am going to rebuild the entire front end while the motor is out. However I will do some measurements tonight and see if clearance is an issue in the engine bay. And I will try and post more pics. And FYI the ones I bought have 1 1/2 inch primary's. And I have standard plugs in the engine.Originally Posted by F41eatsFords

Ok I received mine the other day but since the motor's out and being rebuilt it will be a week or so until I get them in the car to verify fitment. But from the headers I had on the car before they appear to be the same so they should fit. Primaries are 1.75 and collectors 2.5.
Quality is pretty good for being Chinese. The weld points are clean and no slag or excess. The flange is very thick.
I'll let you all know how it fits in a week or so.

They fit.............with modifications.
The driver side fits with no issues and drops right in but the passenger side hits the A/C box. Only solution is to either remove the box entirely (losing A/C if you have it still) or cut the box to fit the header and a cover to protect the box from heat or build a smaller more tight box.
In other words these headers are good for those who have already removed there A/C so they have the room.
Hope this helps!
