o2 sensor mount

does it matter where the o2 sensor is mounted as far as on the headers collector or can it be mounted off the collector on the pipes?

Re: o2 sensor mount

Man id double check but I believe its 18-24 inches from the motor is the sweet spot.

But I do know the old trick was to use cheap spray paint and paint a good section if it and pipe then start it up. where the end spot where the paint burns off is where they put it. Right at the end of the still hot zone but not to close / HOT.

Re: o2 sensor mount

I just put on long tube headers and I mounted the sensors right after tw collector but now the ECM won't get out of open loop and I think it's because of the sensors

Re: o2 sensor mount

W/ long tubes, you will probably a need heated 02 sensor. Also, if you are running AIR, you will need to make sure the 02 sensor and the inlet pipe for the AIR (into the cat) are as far apart as possible. Otherwise, at low speed, backflow/reversion AIR will make the 02 sensor think the engine is running super lean, and dump fuel into it.
