Hey everyone, I have a swapped 350 5.7l SBC on my 86 trans am, and I was interested in buying long tube headers for it, but dont know which will be the best option and fit for my car, please help!!!

What part of California are you in?

Remember long tube headers wont pass the emissions test if this is a street vehicle.

There are sticky posts at the top discussing headers, both shorties and long tubes.

 

I live in Socal, Los Angeles county, yeah I know long tubes won't pass test lol
I'm just working on it as a project car, it isn't my daily driver

 

i have hedman longtubes on my car. and it was a pain in the butt. had to jack up the motor a bit and do a little grinding.

 

hedman fit good on my 89 rs. had to unmount motor and jack it up to drop them in though.. no grinding or banging needed for me.

 

Ah. They sound like their gonna be a mission! How much did u guys pay to jack up the motor? Or did u guys do it yourselves?

 

did mine myself... all u have to do is undo motor mounts and put a jack on the front of the oil pan. if u have to jack it up real high take of the dizzy or at least the cap. that will give you a good amount of clearence. oh and taking off the starter and plugs of course.

 

Sweet, so how much did your guys' headers cost? Make and are they long tubes or shorties? just wanna know some price ranges.. Especially since people say that headers are less expensive on third gens or trans ams/camaros

 

i have longtubes, i wanna say they are the 68270 but 100% sure ill have to look on them.

 

for some reason i love how hooker headers sound, i found the 2451 hooker headers(long tubes) they seem to fit my car, anyone know or have these on their trans ams/maros?
