For anybody considering headers!

Hello..this is for the people who are planning to put headers on.. I just installed a set of flowtech headers with matching y pipe and anybody looking for a fast affordable change out i recommend this setup.. i spent the afternoon over the weekend removing manifolds and installing this set and for the most part everything went smooth (would have went smoother if i would have taken a few extra steps but i was shortcutting). The only problem i have with this is that the clearences are a little tighter than i prefer but all in all not to shabby... I just wanted to clear this up for you guys considering this swap because i was looking on here before i did this and there was no real clear answers about the flowtech setup..everybody jumped straight to the more expensive setups as soon as somebody asked about the flowtechs.. If you guys have any questions about the swap let me know...

Flowtechs fit fairly well, but they've had quality control issues and they're small for performance use.

yes i agree not good for more higher HP motors but good alternative for stock applications or lightly modified.

WS6...Did you have single or dual cats?

What part# did you install?

Any issue with clearence with the frame, spark plug access..etc?

What cats and catback are you using and how does it perform compared to your stock setup?

Re: For anybody considering headers!

The only benefit you gain from the flowtech is having longer primary runners. The opening size is actually smaller in some cases than a factory manifold. I'm honestly not sure why they ever made them in 1.5 inch primary.

Re: For anybody considering headers!

So I guess that Flowtechs are not really that great of a header to put on a 350 with a fully ported intake?

planning on installing magnaflow dual high flow cats with the catback system....

I personaly would not put them on a 350 in general unless it was going in a tbi mud truck or somthing that would benefit from the smaller primarys.. you want a nice flowing header look for 2055 or hooker 2460. they are mid price but flow great for most peoples needs.

92RS...thanks.....Is there any real differences from those 2 headers?

It sounds that with the Flowtechs having smaller primarys that you might have a slight increase with torque, on the lower end but no high end

I believe the 2055's come emission ready if you need it and they are ball flange. the 2460 seem to have a little better collectorr, but are not emission ready and are 3 bolt flange.

I was just planning on removing it and keeping it in case I would ever sell the car to someone that needs to worry about emissions.

Re: For anybody considering headers!

Hey 92RS....

Did you remove your AIR system?? Did you experience any performance issues like running more lean due to no air going to the cats and headers?

I was thinking of going with the 2460 since I have dual cats and will have to make custom y pipe to fit my dual cats anyways.

I do like the 2055, but I would never be able to use the y pipe to the single cat.....you know anyone that would buy that if I were to sell it?
