2055 y pipe issue

I just installed 2055hkr's. Install went well no problems till i got to the y pipe that hooker sent with the headers. when i got one of the flanges in place to mount to the header, the other one was about 1/2" off where it needed to be?! there was about 1/2" or so extra tube in between the down pipes. after alot of fidgeting, figuring out there was nothing i could do, i made my marks and cut what i needed to and welded and got it back in. what im really ticked about is i had to grind off the ceramic coating to weld and whatnot. i paid good money for that so it just puts a damper on the whole project. now the angle to the cat is wrong so it doesnt line up with the cat back. what a load. i dont mind the project at all but i thought these were made for our cars? its not like they had to make these fit a couple different cars, just ours. and it didnt fit. anybody else had problems like this with the 2055's or am i just the lucky one?

Re: 2055 y pipe issue

Mine went on without any problem. After being on for a year or so, I removed the headers when I swapped heads. I had a little trouble getting everything lined back up. Iirc I had to heat up the y to get a leak free seal.

Re: 2055 y pipe issue

so i finished up the project last night and took it for a drive. my car is extremely powerless! when i pulled the engine i did a cam to i put a cam out of my brothers l98. when i drove it last night the thing would hardly idle. let alone get up and go. ive got a slight tic on one side that i noticed i know i just need to adjust the valve a little more. other than that im at a complete loss. i even burned the factory chip for the g92 305 with this cam. PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Re: 2055 y pipe issue

oh ya it threw a few codes as well. VSS, Prom error and electronic spark advance. when i hooked the computer up to it its BLM's were 108... now i know as much about tuning as my dog does. ill just get that out. my brother knows a little so he was trying to help me out. we started emulating and made a few adjustments to my VE tables and got idle BLM's up to 128 but it was a huge difference in numbers. in the VE table i think we went from an original value of 72 ish (cant remember exactly) down to 50 or so. 750rpm vs 40kpa. and we adjusted the near by cells accordingly. how could the computer be so far off or am i just that uneducated about how all this stuff affects each other? i burned the prom for AXXD. i think thats the updated one for the g92 305. any ideas?

Take a good look at the outlet on the bottom of the header, it narrows down to about
1 3/4". You need to cut it back a little to get some flow thru those things.

Here is a picture:

And one with a piece of 1 3/4" tube stuck in it.

Re: 2055 y pipe issue

the "tic" and loss of power, is because your valves are not adjusted correctly.. pull the valve covers, start the engine, find the valves that are ticking (its probably more than one) and adjust them until you hear it gone, its either you tightend down the valve too much or too little, probably too little since its ticking which means the rocker is slapping the spring or the pushrod.

shouldnt have done all that until you found the mechanical reason for the valve tick.. once you find them and adjust them, you're probably going to have to re-adjust this again.

Re: 2055 y pipe issue

from what ive been reading its sounds like the cause of my problems is because the valves arent adjusted right like you said. also i could be a tooth off on the distributer? could that be a possilbility?
