How much of an O2 sensor should be exposed inside the exhaust?
I bought an O2 bung off summit last week and am about to install it, but it is very deep. When I thread my wideband O2 into it, it just barely pops out. It is almost completely covered by the bung.
Should I cut this thing in half so that the gasses can get to the sensor? Why would they sell it sooooo deep?
I weld and fab my pipes, so I don't really have anyone I can ask around me. Hope you guys know.
Thanks.

It'll probably be okay, there doesn't need to be a whole lot of protrusion into the pipe. How tall is that bung?
Something like this will work:
