welding in AIR into non AIR headers?

can i weld in the stock AIR smog fittings into normal headers? or could i possibly custom route the smog pipes into normal headers? has it been done or could it be done? im assuming it can, it cant be that hard.

Oh and also are there any headers that I can run with the stock Y pipe? i dont have enough money to buy an aftermarket y pipe, only enough for just headers.

1991 350 TPI, thanks guys

Welding on bungs for the AIR fittings will be really easy...
If your going to run headers your going to need a new y-pipe that matches the bends of the collectors and flanges... start saving get everything you need then do the swap.

Even though you can put AIR tubes on, that doesn't give the headers the CARB/whatever exemption #, so they aren't truly legal, if the Inspector pays attention.

Yeah only california is tough about **** like that. You need a special # to indicate it passed the emission requirements in California. I took a whole course on their restrictions and legalities...and it's absurd. Anything labelled "for offroad use only" is completely illegal and can potentially get your car impounded for it.

C.A.R.B.-California Air Resources Board is, yes. But other states still have to have headers that have the E.O.-Executive Order # on them. That is why I said "CARB/Whatever" number.
