How can I make my cutout sound better?
When I don't have my foot in it there's an annoying chirping kind of sound. Someone told me to put a cherrybomb after the cutout but I'm not sure I have enough space, any suggestions as to how I could fix this?

Re: How can I make my cutout sound better?
IIRC the dougs cutouts are a sliding plate style? right? I have a QTP, and it uses a butterfly valve like a thottle body. When it was closed it would make a light "ting, ting" noise as the edge of the valve hit the lip on the aluminum body. I used a high temp silicone, and applied a thin line on the tops and bottoms which solved that noise.
Not sure if that plate on your dougs set-up could make contact anywhere when opened and closed, but I would look at where it is coming from as a first step, before planning on muffling your exhaust cut-out... defeats purpose

Re: How can I make my cutout sound better?
Yes, its the sliding plate style. That's a good way to fix that problem but I think I'm experiencing a different noise. I dont want to make the car quieter I just dont like the sound it makes when the pedal isn't mashed. I'm looking for something that wont take up a lot of space and wont muffle it too much, possibly like these magnaflow race series ones http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/0...p#racemufflers

lol!!!! how about putting about 10-12 inches of exhaust pipe after the cut-out? you dont want a muffler there. i agree it defeats the purpose.

That might work. I'm not trying to defeat the purpose and make it quieter I just want to stop the annoying chirp. I do want a muffler there if it stops that chirp without radically dampening the sound of the car. Now I just have to find one that fits the criteria.

ive cured exhaust drone by putting a smaller section of pipe into the very end of a pipe, the lip causes a small turblant area, if your section of pipes goes into not over the cut out end, it would be a good first choice.

Re: How can I make my cutout sound better?
I think that you should look at the root of the "Chriping" noise. I can't imagine it is the exhaust gas pulses actually making the "chirp" noise. I have to imagine the only moving part... the blade is moving when not in a closed position. Light thin metal on metal movement will typically make a chirping noise. You might not need to add pipe, or muffler or anything else to hide the noise, but maybe you can solve the noise and use the cutout as it was intended, or might even find a problem with it that should be warrantied.

It doesnt seem like a metal on metal sound. I'll try to take a video and see if you can hear it.

Re: How can I make my cutout sound better?
So it only does it with the cutout open?
My first suggestion would be to unbolt the electric portion from the cutout itself. 3 bolts and simple test. Should atleast pinpoint if the problem is in fact in the valve portion.
Might be useless to do that though, dont think it could be anywhere else.

Build a motor that moves enough air to sound good with a cutout. An L03 ain't gonna sound "good", no matter what exhaust is on it

Don't run cut outs LOL! I have never head a car that had cut out's that did not have some sort of and exhasut leak just just sounded funky. Looks like the cut out setup is done nice on your car, but I'm just not a fan of them.
