Pm the mods and have them sticky this. He makes headers specifically for 3rd gens? I bet once this gets out his phone won't stop ringing.

1 3/4, 1 7/8, and 2".

They are not cheap ($600 and up).

Probably useful for guys like you and I, but for most of the members, especially the TPI Cali crew they are a bit overkill

Re: anyone using ed quay long tubes

i like the idea of dealing with someone close to me. plus i was going to go with hooker 2210s but see all the fitment issues and figured i would just have a set made or if he already knows the clearance issue with the t5 he could make them acordingly.

2210s fit T5s, it's the hedmans that don't.

2210s also fit lakewood steel bell housing, 168tooth flywheel, etc. I ran that setup but the ground clearance on the 2210s is not great.

If he can improve on that your golden. Though unless you are pushing over 500hp you probably would be fine with a set of short headers.

Re: anyone using ed quay long tubes

Hell 600 isn't all that bad, especially for 1 7/8" and 2"! Paid 550 for my Doug's 1 3/4's!
I wonder if they work for 18 degree heads or if he makes some that will?

Re: anyone using ed quay long tubes

I got the EQ 1 7/8 long tubes

They're awesome!

But they need some fabricating to make them fit.

See this thread
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/orga...headers-2.html

But I agree with the above posters, don't use these unless you have or are going to have 500+hp.

Re: anyone using ed quay long tubes

Just try searching ED Quay and JesasaurusRex.

I had a local business ceremic coat them.

Collectors are 3".

These headers are longer than 2201's.

Please find the thread and they explain alot.

Re: anyone using ed quay long tubes

just got off the phone with someone at ed quays and he said he cant say for sure they would clear the slave cylinder but he has sold them to a few people running the t5 and he didnt have them say they didnt fit. he also said the standard headers at 1 and 3/4 tubes the top 2 tubes will be up in the subframe rails and the bottom 2 will sit below the subframe rail. price was $654

We're having a problem with the forum when links are pasted. Hopefully JT will have it fixed soon.

Re: anyone using ed quay long tubes

seems like im the first one to try and put the ed quays on a 5 speed car headers and collectors look great and i will definately recommend his headers but they dont come close to fitting the 5 speed crap. looks like my only option is to cut all 4 pipes down 4 inches shorter where they meet the collector and i will still probably have to dimple the collector some.

You could also go with this. There is a adapter that goes in the master cylinder so you can use a -4 or -3 an line. It might give you all the clearance you need.

that could help alot, i have never seen something like that before. if i end up using something like that it will help alot! i went to ed quays shop yesterday and showed him pics of my issue and he is a great guy to deal with. i spent about a half hour or more in his shop while he was showing me the underneath of a 3rd gen on the lift that had his headers on and was giving me numerous ideas as to what i can do. my exhaust ports on my AFR heads are a little higher up then a stock style head so it raised my headers up some causing more of an issue but he said that is one of the many reasons he wont finish weld the headers with a set up like mine. he told me to move the pipes out and down some and check the fit (obviously). i took all 4 pipes off the flange and started over and it seems like i can get all the clearance i need but the #7 cylinder tube seems like i will have to end up getting extended by about an inch which sucks since i dont have a tig welder and wont mig it. this is being done with the engine out of the car so its easier and then i have to drop it all back in and see if it all clears everything else in the car. besides clearing my slave cylinder crap there are no other fitment issuses. no cutting of the stock k member or a arm mounts, can get a mini statrer in and out and can change the oil filter no problem. i have solid motor mounts so the stocks werent an issue for me. and there is plenty of ground clearence with these.

Re: anyone using ed quay long tubes

I had his BBC headers when my car had a bbc in it. Well built headers. Great for a drag set up.

His website has lots of drag stuff for 3rd gens.

Re: anyone using ed quay long tubes

you should see his shop....i was like a kid in a candy store....didnt look like much if anything kept in stock but he had 4 fully built cars in there from done to in progress but the fab work he does is awesome! and what really shocked me is that he said there is actually more room in a 3rd gen for headers with a big block and less room with a small block! he wasnt kidding either. just got done fit testing in the car, im going to have to take one tube back to him to make it a little longer and 2 of the tubes are resting on the stock k member....either im going to notch the k member or end up buying an aftermarket one. nice thing about where i live im only about a half hour away from spohn.
