Hedman Husler #65171 headers???
I am trying to get these on my '84 Firebird... WOW, 5 hours and they look they may NOT fit. Hit everywhere.
Anyone put these Hedman race headers on a stock front with a Moroso pan??
Could use some advice; I was going to cut the flanges to give me "3 pipes" per side but not sure if that will help.
I am right in thinking the Firebird and Camaro are the same as far as crossmembers, suspension mounts etc are located, right?
Help a NEWBIE 3rd Gen owner. Trying to get my 415" small block in the Firebird.
Jok

Re: Hedman Husler #65171 headers???
If you get these race style headers.... bring your patience and maybe a couple cocktails.
Took me about 8 hours and I have done headers on probably 12 cars.
Make sure you Cut the flanges, 3 sections per side.
Spent 2 hours getting collectors off and then grinding them to get rid of the "bumps" inside the tubes from welds on collector.
Had to cut part of the structure off the right rear control arm mount.
You MUST use a remote oil filter.
I tried three starters, think I just found one that will let me "clock it" enough to get solenoid off the header.
Now that they are on................they look great.
I know one issue was they are 1.625 step to 1.875 step headers.
Had engine in and out three times before I got them on!!

Re: Hedman Husler #65171 headers???
Hoping I can get someone to weigh in on these 65171 headers. Considering a set of these for an 82 firebird. Primarily a drag car with solid motor mounts, cheap mini starter, deleted ac/heater box, manual brakes/steering, stock type oil pan, short filter in stock location and a sock k-member suspension, sbc with iron straight plug heads. Also need O2 sensors and EVAC tubes in the collectors. I'm actually looking for a set of 1 3/4" long tubes w/3" collectors but I came across a set of these 65171's and might try them if they can be made to fit my car. Currently running 1 5/8" to 3" collectors and I need something a little bigger. Mostly run open headers but I bolt on header muffs when I need to quiet it down. Anyone have any pro or con opinions on the 65171's?
