Cat delete

Going to get my cats taken out this coming weekend. Just curious as to if i should remove the pipes going into the cats from the smog pump taken out (If they will cause a problem without the cats being there) or to just have them welded into the bypass pipe, being that it wont be an issue effecting the way the engine runs. I know i can just pull the smog pump out and reroute the belt but i would like to know if just welding it back into the bypass pipe wouldn't cause an issue.

With a 89, I'm assuming its a factory n10 car? If so and it has the factory cats, remove (and save) the cats so they could be replaced easily down the road.

Re: Cat delete

Okay, but could I keep the smog pump and the pipes running to the existing cats and weld them into the bypass pipe?

Re: Cat delete

If that is your exhaust, those aren't the original cats but yes, you can plumb the a.i.r. tubes into the exhaust but it may backfire once in awhile.

Re: Cat delete

If the cats are never going back on I'd get all the air parts off. It's just there to add oxygen to the cats. Much harder to put back on than take off though.
