I bought a new smog pump I put everything back on just have a problem with the pump. I dont know what connects to the back of the pump to attach the hose to the sensors that separate the flow into 2 hoses. I found a part on summit but not sure if it is what i need here is the link to the part.

Re: Putting emmisions back need help

That should do the trick.

Might need to find a molded hose to go with it; unlikely that you'll be able to just jam a piece of straight hose in there, and it work. Usually you can sweet-talk the counter people at AZ or wherever, into letting you go back to the hose rack and just pick one out that looks like it'll work.

It's amazing that states still require vehicles 25-30 years old to pass emissions.

I had figured pretty much all states had standardized on the OBD2 rules now.

Depends on the jerk at the garage. One garage I go to says they still run emissions on vehicles all the way back to the 70's. Most others perform a 'visual' only and gas cap. No tailpipe.

Not really...

That's like saying that how fast your car is, depends on the spank-off talking to you at the McDonalds parking lot on Fri night.

The law is the law. Each state has its own inspection procedures (or not), specified in its laws. Look em up and bypass the other.

Sorry... In my county of Pennsylvania vehicles 90 and below no longer get tail pipe inspection. Visual only and gas cap. I take my car to the same shop every year and never have I been required to have an emission test. Hell I have been to four different garages all official inspection stations and only one says they still preform the emissions test on vehicles 90 and below. So yeah... Sure he may still have the equipment to do it, but the state law doesn't require it hence the guy is just being a jerk and charging people for a test they don't require.

In New Hampshire, after 20 years you are not required to pass emissions, nor are you required to have the emissions equipment. The law specifically states that the catalytic converter, smog, egr, evaporative system, etc needs not be working or present in those vehicles.

We have very strong hot-rod, and antique legislation as well.

Hopefully that won't change in my lifetime.

Yep, it varies state to state.
In Utah, anything newer than '67 up to OBDII has to pass a sniffer emissions test.
We do have "Vintage Vehicle" registration, but technically it is not for your daily driver, and the vehicle has to be at least 30 years old.
I play the emissions dance each year with my '87 3/4 Ton daily driver.

You have two options. Vote in legislators that have the same ideals as you, or move.

I gave up in Massachusetts a decade ago and moved to nh. Live free or die!
