I saw these today and was wondering if anybody had bought and installed them.
Search this on ebay. 82-92 CAMARO SBC AT STAINLESS STEEL LONG-TUBE HEADER EXHAUST MANIFOLD+Y-PIPE
After looking at the pictures of the Stainless Works and these they are definately copies. I have been told that to make them work with a T56 you have to clearance the header tube that goes near the clutch slave clyinder. It would be easier to bend a header tube on a set for this price than the $1000 ones. The other thread here on ebay stainless long tubes was old and referred to OBC headers that I now can't find them on there web site.
I wasn't sure how to post a link. If you search that text on ebay they will come up. Those are the OBX I read about today on TGO. I can't find them on the OBX web site for 82-92 F bodys. Not sure if they make them aqnymore. I'm sure the stainless headers on ebay are foriegn made.
If those are the same OBX headers on Ebay from a while back, has anyone out there used them with a SBC and a LT1 T56. I am trying to get info on fitment with that trans. The seller on ebay can't tell me anything except that the application chart he has says it wont fit with a manual trans but I think they are referring to a T5.
I finally found a thread called "My 406 with long tubes and ground clearance" started by Dscott. It has pictures that show under the car clearance. He installed them with a T5 5speed and went to a internal hydraulic thowout bearing. It seems that a T5 has much more of a protrusion on the left side of the bellhousing than the area where the slave cylinder is than whats on a T56. Looking at those picture I feel good about them fitting with my T56. I ordered the OBX long tubes yesterday. When I mock them up with the engine, bellhousing and slave cylinder I will post pics. This is the picture from his thread.
My OBX stainless long tubes came today just before I had to go to work. They look nice and are just as shown in the pictures. I snapped a quick picture when I took them out of the box. I will unpack all the pieces when I get home in the morning and get some better pictures.
