Ebay longtubes

Anyone try these yet? I'm thinkin about it...anyone want to buy some 1 3/4 SLP headers?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-8...item256214d262

For many years now, I've been keeping an eye out for a reasonably priced set of longtube headers to replace my SLP shorties, that are still of decent quality and preferably stainless. Something similar to what is available for 4th gens. I think I may have finally found them.

Yeah no kidding, they appear to be a knock-off of those rediculously expensive Stainless Works longtubes that Hawks sells. Much like the ebay headers for 4th gens are knock-off's of Kooks and LPP longtubes.

My brother-in-law has a set of the ebay knock-offs on his 4th gen formula, and I have the real-deal LPPs on my 4th gen....there is very little difference between them. If this is the same type of deal, only for 3rd gens, I'm in for a set for sure!

Re: Ebay longtubes

Yep. No doubt about it. Looks like the SWs have better attention to the details, and are likely constructed of a higher grade stainless. But hey for less than half the price, the ebays may have some serious bang for the buck....

I bought the stainless ebay Headers for my C5. They fit well. I did have to modify the collector otherwise it was a direct bolt on. I bought them in 2006 and they still look great.

How/What exactly did you have to modify on the collector?

Re: Ebay longtubes

They had the oxygen sensors so they were hitting each other. I had to make a different hole so they wouldn't touch. I also changed the collector to an old school 3 hole type. They were so much cheaper than the name brand ones it was amazing. Even changing the collector up I still saved a lot of money.

Re: Ebay longtubes

Im just curious how the y pipe would fit and how much clearance it would leave. I would be down for a set if they were the headers only as I already have 2.5" duals.

Since they are longtubes woudnt they be for true duals and not usae a Y pipe? I may not be understanding what you are saying.

There's several members that switched from LT/Y pipe to a LT/TD setup. I might snagging a set only because it's a 3pc y pipe and should work w/ the X pipe and flex joints I just picked up.....add mufflers, and dump before the axle. Even if a guy wanted to stay with a Y, it should be pretty easy to connect to their current exhaust.

Re: Ebay longtubes

these may be worth buying to mod for an LSx setup. grab a set of flanges and make cuts/mods around 1/4 of the way down for the different spacing. hmm......

You never know they might even have one in the works if they already copied these. Would be a huge money saver for that crowd for sure.

I wonder if they would fit LT1 heads and clear a T56. I already ordered Dyno Don headers and Y though. No fitment problems with his for sure.

It says it won't fit convertibles but when I called Hawks about the sw they said it was a typo. I wonder if these will fit my convertible ? this will save me lots of money , if they fit!!!!!

Re: Ebay longtubes

I came to the conclusion that there would be no fittement issues with the convertible I have one as well and that puzzled me since there is no bracing at all at the exaust. after talking to Stainless Works (those who've designed that style) said that theirs would work and hawks that corrected their typo on their site it would lead me to assume that they WILL fit our cars. myself I will be buying a set to install at the end of the season probably and install my cat at the y-pipe I'm only worried about it being a little too far away of the engine to work properly

You're referring to the drivers LCA? Could you take a pic of how much grinding you had to do?

Also, just for reference, what kind and how old are your motor mounts?

They look fantastic! I'm also curious on the clearance and routing with the Y pipe- from the pics it looks like it crosses over towards the back of the 700r4......I need to raise my rear an inch, and am hoping that will help with clearance, but I can't run a y pipe because of my Canton pan.

I can't go to and get back from Chicago soon enough so I can order these!!!!

grinding at the most 1/2" long x1/8" high just need to cut off the tip the header fit no problem without cutting just may be an issue down the road, motor mounts factory woth poly inserts .

Do you have any shots of the Y pipe and passenger side yet? I'm curious to see how it routes around the tranny pan/crossmember, and how good the ground clearance is.

Also, did their exhaust bolt up as expected?

Re: Ebay longtubes

Well I wasnt going to post until I have heard from the vendor, but havent gotten a response yet so thought I would ask the board. Has anyone else who has these had problems with them bolting to the heads. The holes in the header flange dont line up with the head worth crap. At first I thought it would be a matter of a little slotting of the holes but it looks like it is more than that to me. It looks like either the front or back tube position is off. If I move the header so that I can get both bolts in either the front or back tubes on either the dside or pside the opposite tube will be very close to not sealing the exhaust port.

Keep us posted with what the vendor says and what they do to take care of the situation.
