Mine look just like this

Re: Ebay longtubes

Ill be curious to see if they fixed the flange issue with the next batch. Maybe its a good thing I ran out of funny money doing the manual conversion first. Too bad I won't be able to drive it when im done without headers or exhaust

Re: Ebay longtubes

Well I'm glad they did run out , I got the real stainless works headers and the craftsmanship is worth the 1200 bucks! I did not have one problem with them . But if they do fix the problem I would not mine a pair for the next car.

Re: Ebay longtubes

What a P.I.T.A, ok all done just got to get converters in some how?!?!? So to install these headers you are going to have to remove the starter, steering shaft, oil pressure sending unit (if you have an oil cooler from the factory) notch about 1/2" of the drivers side lower control arm mount. I reused the factory large starter, it's tight, I have a small starter from a 4.3L I will use if this one gets heat soaked, 6 of the 8 spark plugs are very easy to get to 5&6 are a pain, I have a 5/8 box wrench that's for servicing 6.5L deisel fuel injectors that works perfect, car must be at least 3 feet off the ground or on a lift, lift would be best. It took me for ever because my wife was pregnant and we where getting the baby room ready, now that the kid is hear she has loosened the chain and let's me off the porch, albeit not for very long, I am done, just need to figure a muffler and tail pipe set up.

Thats standard long tube issues. Had to go through all of that plus some to get my hookers in. Header fitment looks ALOT better than expected for knockoffs. Id dump the Y-pipe and build your own though

Re: Ebay longtubes

Are these the same headers:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVR...#ht_5316wt_948

$135 for stainless steel, $35 shipping.

The Ebay store is called ProAutoPartsCorp.

My car is RHD, and the RHD header seems to angles back and I hope will slear the steering.

Those are not the same headers, and they won't be a huge improvement over the stock manifolds. They have 1.5" primaries, and don't even have a 2.5" collector. It says 2 3/8" for collector size......

Here's the ones this thread is about:

Re: Ebay longtubes

Thanks for the tip. Yes they do look like a better option.

I notice they are Procomp P/N pc5011 headers. I've heard that Procomp is a cheap copy of big brands made in China and these headers seem a lot like Hooker headers. The Procomp cost $150 and the Hooker $400.

Does anyone know if the Procomp headers are any good?

Those do seem like a good deal if you plan on using shorties. Did you read the description though?

1982-1992 CAMARO FIREBIRD HEADER

* G-Body with SBC Engine
I though 3rd gen f-body headers were specific to our chassis?

These long tube headers are a great replacement over the restrictive factory headers.
...what long tubes?

You can get away using shorties from other models- it's the LT's where you will ALWAYS run into problems if it's not specifically for a 3rd gen F body.

IIRC, you can even use 4th Gen LT1 shorty's.

Re: Ebay longtubes

Those shorties lok like they will fit, they prolly mixed up G and F.

The only prob is the crappy collector design. If I were to buy them (probably will for my 88 camaro), I'd cut off the stepped down part and use a conical shaped reducer to get for a better flowing design. That big neck down in the collector is no good IMO. Weld on some V band flanges and hey would be a nice set of headers. Sure can't beat the price.

Subject: Headers

A friend of mine recently got a set of long tube headers and y-pipe for his
82-92 Camaro. I was going to get the same thing but noticed they are not
listed on your site anymore. Is it because of the fitment issues? If so, are
there plans to remedy the issue and rerelease them?

Sounds like every other header install to me. Long tubes are huge, they're a pain in the ***. The only long tubes I know of to go in truly painlessly are those LS1 swap long tubes.

Read through this for a laugh:

Long tubes for thirdgens:

1. Hooker 2210s = Require grinding and a whole lot of finessing to get them in accordingo to the install link
2. Hedman 68460s = Require a small modification to the a-arm perch, dimple in one of the primaries.
3. Ebay LT's = about the same as those

Maybe those stainless works long tubes fit perfectly, I dont know. Im not advocating everyone go out and buy cheap Chinese headers, but I run cheap Hedman LT's and I'm very happy with them.

Has anyone tried fitting these in a car with an aftermarket K-member? I currently have Hedman headers on my car and they fit without any modifications (even installed them from the top) BUT clearances are very tight in some spots AND I'm running solid motor mounts so I can definitely see fitment issues with the stock k-member.
It would be handy to know how the eBay headers fit with an aftermarket k-member. For those of us on a budget stainless headers would be nice but stainless works headers are simply too much (at least for me).

Re: Ebay longtubes

so I'm really kicking myself in the **** for not buying these when I had the chance! damn common sense getting in the way (and the usual fear of retaliation from my wife!!!) has anybody heard anything if OBX is going to be offering these again? I've emailed Racing parts direct a few times and have not had a single response from them concerning these.

am I going have to bite the bullet and buy the stainless works ones at almost 1300$ once they are shipped to Canada

Well that is useless.

Some things apparently are lost in translation to China...

Re: Ebay longtubes

Even if they were only 1-5/8 I would have bought them. The 2.5 collector is a non issue, their collectors are junk anyway. I modified a set of china 4th gen longtubes for under an LS swap 82 corvette... smiply cut off the collector before it necks down and weld on a 3" section.

Re: Ebay longtubes

One thing is strange, the pipes are flattened on the sides to give access to the header bolts, that would lead me to believe they are actually larger. Can someone actually measure these???

Most 1 5/8" headers won't cover the felpro 1406 exhaust port on the afr 210/220 heads. So for me it would be 1 3/4" or bust.

Re: Ebay longtubes

I was thinking about these for a mild build I have a set of 2" primary Hedman Hustlers for when I build something better (the funky ones with the 4 in line collector)

Looks like you will have to fork out some serious money for high $$$ headers
