suggestions on what to do with these tailpipes?
Ok I'm a cheap SOB I bought this catback for $100 with a damaged tailpipe, so what to do? see if Dented tube can be fixed? or
(my preference) cut off baloney tips and install 2.5" stock looking with angle cut tips? any idea where they could be had? dont want to invest much more
this is off fourth gen I'm guessing wont take much to mount this on third gen?

It's the only way to be sure.
Ok, got that out of my system... You could work the dent out from the inside. Assuming the pipe is stainless and not chrome plated, anything from an exhaust pipe expander to a hammer/dolly arrangement should work.
Flowmaster offers 4th gen exhaust pipes in 2.5" in basic aluminized steel. Or at least they did. I say 4th gen because thats what they list them for, but they're the same thing as thirdgen pipes.

a banana in my tailpipe? lol you sir are a funny guy
those would work but I don't believe they sell tailpipes alone anymore years ago I bought 2 for my 69 Nova SS - same as 67-68 Camaro I ended up with them on my 69 Firebird and then they were unavailable I guess they want to sell systems not parts

It's possible... Might be worth a phone call. I'd tell them I needed a pair to replace the pipes on my Flowmaster cat-back that was damaged in an accident, and see what they say. Bonus points if you can fake tears and so on.
You would think since the program is already in the machine, they'd want to sell every pipe possible, but it seems like all the aftermarket pukes are going towards the complete systems and the push to stainless.

I'll need someones teenage daughter to call and fake the tears/sob story then.
I have no problem with aluminized tubing down here although stainless is nice (and expensive) its not needed for a weekend car
I'd be down just cutting off the baloney tips
and welding stock style tips if could get them reasonable - with bend in end and beveled tip

Re: suggestions on what to do with these tailpipes?
Exactly my feeling. My car's don't generally get wet, much less driven in salt or anything that will eat an exhaust. Aluminized is pretty much a lifetime exhaust for my stuff. LOL
I'd dig around with Google and try to find out what's available that matches what you want. It's a pain, but sometimes you find what you're looking for. I'm assuming the Magnaflow muffler has 2.5" outlets, but probably best to dig for diagrams and verify, to avoid having to adapt 2.25" to 2.5" or something similar. Usually diagrams are fairly easy to find for all the aftermarket cat-backs, and they'll usually have the individual pipe numbers. Then you can search for the individual pipes and see what is available.
Trouble with a lot of the tail pipes listed for thirdgens is they are designed to work with the stock muffler with 2.25" outlets. That's why the Flowmaster 4th gen pipes were nice, because they were a true 2.5" pipe that fit most aftermarket mufflers. I'd check Walker/Dynomax, Flowmaster, and so on. Might be worth looking into AP exhaust to see what they offer.

Re: suggestions on what to do with these tailpipes?
I picked up the walker tail pipe extensions about a year ago from RA that fit perfectly with the 2.5" outlet magnaflow muffler.
looks like they have stainless for around $30 each or aluminized at half that.
looks like the 43243 and 43244 are the proper size in stainless (2.5") I can't confirm which pieces I used.

Re: suggestions on what to do with these tailpipes?
What's funny is I can't figure out where the 43243 and 43244 pipes are even coming from. The Walker Exhaust catalog shows 43988 and 43989 as the service replacements for a thirdgen. Their 4th gen pipes are setup for the 4th gen tips. Thought they might be from one of the Dynomax lines... Jumped over the Dynomax catalog, they don't offer anything currently on their website. Only thing I can figure is they're an older part number that either isn't in the catalog anymore, or it's a glitch with the website. Weird.
Walker/Dynomax has had this issue lately where a lot of their parts haven't been showing up in searches. There was a thread recently where someone said they still had the stuff but it wasn't listed properly on the page, but the parts have gone NLA on Summit and Rock Auto too, making it look like they'd rather focus on the newer and older markets? Idk, just weird.
Previous thread about missing part numbers - https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exha...e-dynomax.html

Like I said Summit has the 43243 and 43244 in stock , just put them on just go there and type in the part # , side note you have to have the muffler end expanded to 2 1/2 i.d. pretty easy

Re: suggestions on what to do with these tailpipes?
could be a glitch or a part that is no longer manufactured. RA lists only 4 and 5 left available.
other service replacements for a thirdgen show 2.25" O/I at muffler. The above parts appear to be part of their SuperTurbo system and show 2.5".
and shipping to me is about half of what was quoted above. with the RA 5% maybe 75$ to me, but get what you want where you can.

Re: suggestions on what to do with these tailpipes?
I have a sneaking suspicion that they're probably discontinued and as soon as existing inventory is gone, they'll probably go "No Longer Available". I'd say if a person wants a set, they should probably act fast.

Re: suggestions on what to do with these tailpipes?
Not sure what I'm missing here, your original post you have a used magnaflow catback which is 2 1/12 outlets , you wanted stock type turndowns, which is what the Walker 43243 and 43244 are , its really easy Summit has them in stock , I just had the muffler end of the pipe expanded to 2 1/2 id to fit over the muffler outlet , and move the frame hanger a little on the driver side, Bingo! done, have fun

Re: suggestions on what to do with these tailpipes?
the walkers on RA, 43244 and 43243 are listed there as stainless. I cannot be certain they are the ones installed on my 87 but appear to be, mandrel bent, stainless. I did a search through my past orders at RA but they only go back like 10 orders. apparently I've ordered too many other things since then (including several parts/pieces for my BMW E90 I picked up about two years ago. I know....)

Re: suggestions on what to do with these tailpipes?
I think what the RA description is getting at is that the tail pipes are for the Ultra Flow Stainless cat-back, which is a bit of a mislead. The Ultra Flow Stainless cat-back used a stainless muffler, the pipes were still aluminized.
Meaning it's a Tail Pipe for both the Ultra Flo Stainless, or Super Turbo exhaust systems.
Dynomax Tail Pipe; Ultra Flo Stainless Steel System; Super Turbo System

Re: suggestions on what to do with these tailpipes?
could very well not be stainless tips. it's been a long time since I took materials science but I think the only way to be sure is to rub a new-born bunny on it against the grain. If he sticks, you know it's stainless.
I used to use bunnies, but now I only clean my car with baby kittens. Preferably white ones.
