exhaust reccomendations

Right now i have a flowmaster 80 series on my firebird and id like something a bit louder, but not too obnoxiously loud. Does anyone have any reccomendations? Im on a bit of a budget so something not too expensive would be nice too.

Re: exhaust reccomendations

It's not cheap, but the GMMG chambered exhaust from Madhammer is the BEST sounding exhaust for thirdgen.

I am a fan of Hooker Mufflers. I run the Aero Chamber which sounds awesome especially under acceleration but may not be louder than your Flowmaster.
Hooker makes a Max Flow which will be louder and is relatively inexpensive.

Vinny knows I also love the Hooker Aerochamber!!!! ...Love it! ....I also ran a Hooker Max Flow for awhile, and I felt it was actually quieter than the Aerochamber. Both sounded great, and it wasn't on a stock engine by any means so who knows.

Re: exhaust reccomendations

The stock cat quiets these down a lot. I don't think you will get more noise just going to the Aerochamber from an 80 series. Try deleting the muffler for free, they really aren't that loud until you get after it. If you dig it, you can probably fashion a y-pipe in place and reuse the tailpipes.

Re: exhaust reccomendations

thanks for all the reccomendations! ill look into the hooker mufflers. The madhammer exhuast is a little bit out of my price range for now but if i save up some money ill look further into it.

Id love to do the muffler delete but im in high school and dont think my mom would appreciate the cold starts at 6 am

Re: exhaust reccomendations

It will probably be exactly as loud as you're trying to make the car. Could not hear our old stock 88 305 tbi Camaro that had no exhaust after the cat idling over my mildly built 5.0 Mercury Capri with dual flowmaster super 40s.

Re: exhaust reccomendations

Best meaning as close as possible to the stock note? That's what I am looking for for my L98. Performance upgrade, yet keep the same overall factory sound.
