Passenger side header clearance using Hawks long tube

I have ls2 and t56 in a 89 formula
  • Bought al components from hawks (Trans cross member, Engine mounts, Rear end, Exhaust) so I would have a relatively simple install... The passenger side header is so close to chassis and transmission crossmember I cant even put a pipe on it, Ive moved stuff around and I have got only a little extra clearance, has anybody run into this problem? Or Does any one have any idea to help fix this?
  • I even reached out to hawks to see if i'm doing something wrong they ask for pictures I send a ton in and they say they will get back to me with a response then never respond has happened twice now

Could you shorten the pipe so there is more room closer to the front of the car?

As for Hawks, call them, I always find you get better responses after you talk to one of the Sons on the phone first.

Re: Passenger side header clearance using Hawks long tube

It's not uncommon to have to give headers a little persuasion with a hammer to gain clearance in different places. Only way to get a "perfect" fit is to have custom headers made.

You're not going to bend that header. LOL

I would try loosening bolts for all the engine mounts and trans mounts and see if you can move/rotate that engine a little bit with whatever slop is left in those mounts.

I have been messing around with it and still very little room. I was going to try the holly engine mounts to see if they will be different
