Will a Bullet-Style Muffler be easy enough to install? (crappy diagram included)

91 RS 305 with completely stock exhaust. I want the Flowmaster Flow FX bullet style muffler

I drew a diagram of my thought process. Basically delete everything from the stock system from the axle back except the intermediate pipe. I would connect the muffler to the intermediate pipe then either have a turn down tip or straight tail pipe going to the back. It looks like I would lose the ability to use the hanger on the drivers side which is why I thought a small turn down pipe would be best. Let me know if this looks like it would work.

As far as exhaust systems are concerned, you can make just about anything work if you have welding equipment and the skill to use it.

You didn't say why you want to do this and that's ok. That will be LOUD. I would run a tail pipe out the back just to get rid of fumes.

I do in fact want it louder(I actually can't hear the stock exhaust at all). I listened to some clips of this muffler and it sounds very similar to a magnaflow magnapack. The cars that still had stock manifold and cats sounded tame enough.

Good call about the fumes. Maybe I'll just have it go out back and deal with the fact that I'll only have 1 visible tip.

I'm not a big fan of the chambered exhaust sound and the other crossflow options didn't impress me either.

With nothing holding it up on the driver's side end, it won't stay on the car for long.

Something else to mention. Me personally, do NOT like the sound of low compression engines right out of the pipe. NEEDS a muffler in my opinion. If you've heard it on a similar motor then you'll already know, but if you've heard it on a DIFFERENT motor......ya might not be happy.

Run the pipe out the back and mount it to the factory mounts. Will probably sounds like *** but it is doable

I did this way back in the day. I made a hanger for the drivers side.

In some states, at least, it's a safety requirement to have the exhaust protrude 1" outside the vehicle compartment....for the purposes or ensuring fumes don't make it into the cabin area. So, fumes is a concern as well as legal requirements too. As for one tip, I think F-bodies look "proper" with two tail pipes in the back, you could always do a Y pipe after the muff, or just have a dummy tail pipe on the right side, like this poser BMW....
