Is it worth it to replace my muffler?
I’m kicking around the idea of replacing my hooker cross flow muffler with a single in/out straight through type of muffler (I’m thinking Borla but would take suggestions). I’m not unhappy with the sound or performance per se of the current setup, I just have no idea if it is a restriction or not.
As it sits I have a 350, vortec heads, about 9.8:1 CR, summit 8802 cam. Exhaust is SLP shorties to hooker full 3” cat back. I’m looking into doing this as I want to get it dyno tuned and get the Holley sniper dialed in and don’t want to be making changes after I get that done.
So, in your opinion is it worthwhile?

I don't think you're gonna pick up a bunch of power w a different muffler. Maybe a little like 5-10 at the most. Now, if you want a different sound or look, go for it. Dyno tuning and dialing your efi will alone make a big difference. Obviously, do that w whatever muffler your gonna end up with. I have a custom spintech cross flow w a 3.5 inch in to dual 3 in outs. It flows awesome but is loud. So think about what you want sound wise!
If your using the base maps for your sniper and were just letting it self tune your in for a dyno tuning treat!

Re: Is it worth it to replace my muffler?
I think I’ll probably just keep it as it is. It’s been on the car for a long time but not all that many miles and I don’t think it’s worth the effort and money to maybe pick up a few horsepower. I kind of thought that was going to be the case, but I was not sure. If I had a 500 or 600 hp engine then it would make more sense but at my power level there isn’t much to gain it sounds like. I appreciate the help and the info!
