As the title says, I picked up edelbrock headers with the factory air tubing and I am looking for a Y pipe that will work with them that I can get from summit racing, anyone have a recommendation? I believe they are 2.5 inch headers
I was looking at these but not sure if they would work

Re: Edelbrock 6877 / 7977 Headers Y Pipe Replacement
I found the Edelbrock 6877 / 7977 headers you have.
Those Edelbrock 6877 / 7977 headers with that style exhaust flange aren't going to work with @Dyno Don replacement Y-pipes for Edelbrock TES headers. If they exit pretty close to where the Edelbrock TES headers I posted above do then the Dyno Don's replacement Y-pipe for Edelbrock TES headers might could be modified by an exhaust shop to fit them with different exhaust flanges welded in place.
Edelbrock 6877 / 7977 Headers This style exhaust flange will not work with Dyno Don's replacement Edelbrock Y-pipes.

Re: Edelbrock 6877 / 7977 Headers Y Pipe Replacement
Y-pipes are meant to match up with their header design or clones of that header design with a matching/compatible flange design spatially located in the exact same place.
I don't know of any headers that are clones of Edelbrock's header designs. If there ever were any there aren't any today that you could buy a matching Y-pipe for.
That Flowtech Y-pipe isn't anywhere near close to matching up with your Edelbrock 6877 /7977 headers. It's also a suck azz design that flows like sh*t too.
Re: Edelbrock 6877 / 7977 Headers Y Pipe Replacement
I had these headers years ago. They fit well and were built well. The flow was good for a mild build. The replacement y pipe don makes should fit if you have the ball flange/doughnut style collector. Ive never seen those TES headers w a flat flange.

You were correct about the header part numbers my mistake. Just got into contact with DynoDon really excited to get a Y-pipe for these and put them on my GTA

Re: Edelbrock 6877 / 7977 Headers Y Pipe Replacement
Well lucky for you that...
1. You can't read and you have the Edelbrock TES headers from the Edelbrock TES kit #6872 7972. LoL
I think the 6872 is the header part number and the 7972 is the Y-pipe part number.
The information from here and including what is in the Spoiler belowdoes notapply to you because you have a 1988 Trans Am GTA with a L98 engine and a High Output single catalytic convertor exhaust system. The information only applies to people with 1990 Camaros & Firebirds.
I corrected the information below in BOLD from 1986-90 to 1986-89. The application information regarding the model years covered in the C.A.R.B. Executive Order for the Edelbrock TES 6872 7972 and Edelbrock's own TES header kit instructions are wrong.
Edelbrock Tubular Exhaust System 6872 7972 Chevrolet Camaro IROC & Z28 and Pontiac Firebird Formula 1986-89 5.0L & 5.7L V8 TPI (Single Cat.)
Spoiler
1990 IROC-Zs with a RPO code LB9 5.0L V8 TPI engine with a 5 speed manual transmission and RPO code G92 had as standard equipment the RPO N10 dual catalytic convertor exhaust system. 1990 Firebird Formulas and Trans Am GTAs with a LB9 5.0L V8 TPI engine and 5 speed manual transmission had as standard equipment the RPO N10 dual catalytic convertor exhaust system.
All 1990 Camaros and Firebirds with a LB9 5.0L V8 TPI engine with an automatic transmission had the Low Output single catalytic convertor exhaust system from the L03 5.0L V8 TBI cars but without the heat stove on the driver side exhaust manifold. Same goes for 1990 IROC-Zs and Pontiac Trans Ams with the 5 speed manual transmission without RPO code G92. This Edelbrock TES system is not for these 1990 F-bodys.
All 1990 Camaros and Firebirds with the B2L/L98 5.7L V8 TPI engine came standard equipment with the RPO code N10 dual catalytic convertor exhaust system.

Below are pictures of what your Edelbrock TES kit would have looked like when new. I also including a picture of the same kit but with a different coating.
2. Your Edelbrock TES headers are compatible with Dyno Don's vastly improved Edelbrock replacement Y-pipe. His redesign of the Edelbrock Y-pipe eliminates the trouble prone donut gasket connection between the headers and the Y-pipe and updates it to a gasket less ball & socket connection. The Y merge on his Y-pipe flows much better than the crimped down Y merge on Edelbrock's original Y-pipe.
This reply is a work in progress. I'm not done with it yet. Check back later for updates.
Re: Edelbrock 6877 / 7977 Headers Y Pipe Replacement
The carbed cars, and others that used a "dummy", needed that flat flange to fit to the EFE valve. Without that, no CARB EO #. Not sure what all ones used a "dummy" (valve body w/o the flapper valve) butt I'm pretty sure they were common during the same time frame that carbs were still available, i.e. up to 87 more or less.
The TES for my 83 L69 was made that way. I agree, the headers themselves were pretty decent; butt the Y-pipe was from hell. Looked like it was made by a tribe of monkeys taking a break from trying to f*** a football.
