Are you referring to the stock muffler that came on the car? Then yes, an aftermarket one will flow a lot better, some more than others. Gutting a cat will gain a couple HP, but nothing a hi-flo one can't match almost equally.

performance cat back would give quite a bit more flow then the stock system
also by going with an exhaust each mod you do will have a bigger effect then it would with the stock exhaust
and if you do not have smog I would say go with a straight pipe rather then a gutted cat.they will give a lot better flow and IMHO sound better

He said he already has a 3" I pipe, so no need for a cat-back. I'd say get the Hooker Aero Chamber muffler, course I am somewhat biased, there's a sound clip in the signature. This is with a NON hi flo cat.
