Header Paint?
Some paint advertised in Demon Tweeks over in the UK, resists temperatures of up to 2000 degrees and cures with the header heat.
I would consider this to cut under hood temperature and make my shorties look like new again.
Does it work?
Cheers

I've tried 1200* spray paint before, but ended up burning off after a month. I would think 2000* would work fine, considering headers don't get that hot. How much are they asking?

I used 1500 degree paint. Looks fine after 2-1/2 months. The key is surface prep. Your best bet is to remove them, have them sand blasted, clean with thinner prior to painting. A 400 degree oven bake will help them survive the reinstall process.
If your mixture is on, 1200 degrees is about right. Steel starts glowing red at about that temp.

There isn't a lot of heat blocking to it. It's more than just appearance, though, as it will keep them from corroding through.

I just used 500* flat black paint. Its already lasted longer than the paint the headders came with and thats splashing through melted snow for 3 weeks. The stuff that flowtech used to paint my headders with melted off in two days. I painted the headders when the engine was warm, so it got cured instantly, no preping either.

discount auto parts has high temp paint, made specifically for headers.. resists heat up to 1500 degrees, you have to let it cure at 600+ degrees for 60 min or so. (done either by letting the car run for an hour, or baking them in your household oven..)
I haven't tried it yet, but I will be painting my hookers this weekend with it.
I'll let you know the results.

Most of the paint that headers come with from the factory is just for shipping.. Gotta take it off and use the proper high temp paint. My headers are still black after a year.
