Dynomax Super turbo VS Flowmaster 80

I've had my dynomax exhaust set-up for about 3 or 4 years now. Happy with it, but I'd like a change. The Super turbo i have now has a nice vibrating rumble at idle and sounds good when you get on it. The only thing is, it's kinda too "muffled"for me. I love that Flowmaster rasp. Basically i'd like to know if the 80 will be louder than the Super turbo, and if my rumbly idle will disappear. I like the rumble, ijust want more volume and more of a raspy tone. Keep in mind i'm ONLY gonna change the muffler. Same 3" in, same dual tailpipes with tips. Thanks

Yes. The Flowmaster should be louder all around.

couple years ago when i first put a 350 in my T/A i used a dynomax cat-back with a super turbo. sounded completely stock....everyone thought i still had a 305(was an excelent sleeper lol) then i put on an 80 series and the sleeper was gone. sounded like a race car and only got louder and more nasty sounding with age...especially at idle. they have an awesome choppy rumble with a good cam.

Rob,

I've had them both, if you want more rumble go w/ the 80 series. It'll give you everything your super doesn't. But now that i've had my flowmaster for a while, i'm looking for something louder, so it just goes to show that you'll probably never be happy.

lol....thanks for the info. My car definantly does not sound stock right now, just felt after 3-4 years it's time for a switch. i love the WOT sound of Flowmasters, just wanted to make sure the thumping idle was gonna stay with me

o yea, i only have a 305 and it sounds like a worked 350....... it gives it this mean *** tone that is only understood when heard man....... buy one! asap...... and yea its the kind of deafening that like beats at ur ear drums......... plus i got a lot of performance out of just the muffler..... a lot of ppl say they lose power or dont gain any..... well that is b/c they arent matched up right and then use brackets to make it fit which ****s with everything....... as long as u get the right size u'll feel a difference trust me.:hail:

o for some more input...... with your car i would get headers (u prob have them) 2 high flow cats , an h or x pipe, and run true dual out the back with two 40 series original flows..... that would b louder than the 80 series. but more costly...

when i built my motor last winter, i just ran manifolds that i ported. Due to our Canadian dollar being worthless, $1100-1200 for the Hookers PLUS a custom dual set-up was a little to much for me. Suprisingly, the single exhaust set-up hasn't caused me any probs and it's been over a year. I was also thinking of a dual set-up, but due to some stupidity last summer, the police have been out in full force during cruise nights and such nailing people left and right, so dual 40's with dumps I'D love, but THEY wouldn't. It's easier to fight a ticket with a "factory" style exhaust as opposed to running dumps which are considered illegal here. No smog to worry about though.

i don't NEED cats, don't want them either. Yes they can write you a ticket for noise violations, also dumps ARE illegal here. exhaust gases must exit outside the undercarriage of the vehicle ans Past the rear diff.
