Bolt in 3rd Gen Camaro Fuel Tank - 21.7gal, AN outlets
I built this steel tank about 10 years ago and recently built a fuel cell to replace it so I don't need it anymore. It looks rough but it has held up to road racing, open road racing, gone 191mph and has just plain old worked for 35,000 miles. Just putting it out there instead of junking it or tripping over it for the next 5 years. I will meet or deliver within 20 miles or so if I can make it work. Buyer responsible for costs if they want this shipped.
- Tank
- The tank is steel, .063 and the corners are reinforced internally
- The inside is coated with Eastwood fuel tank sealer
- There is a small sump that the pumps pull from with a drain port
- Capacity is 21.7 gal - about 7 more than the factory tank
- Weight with no fuel but 3 pumps, wires and hardlines is 54.8 lb
- Access door in top of tank to mount/plumb/wire pumps
- Mounting
- The tank mounts to the factory points where the strap mounts would go
- In the rear, steel T brackets rotate into the factory slots and then bolt to the bottom of the tank
- In the front, the factory bolts are used to bolt up through the angle brackets mounted to the top front of the tank
- Factory exhaust cannot be used as the tank takes up that space to get the extra capacity
- The panhard bar and panhard bar braces clear the tank and actually do not need to be removed to install/remove the tank
- Pumps
- Brackets for 1, 2 or 3 Walbro style pumps
- Hardlines inside the tank to connect the pumps to the outlet port
- I was running 3 255lph pumps, so the hardlines are T'd up for that
- Electrical is also set up for 3 pumps but I'd recommend rewiring since it is old wire and connectors
- Old pumps included and working
- -8AN output fitting, -6AN return fittings on front side of tank - 90* fittings and about a 3' piece of AN hose can be used to connect to factory hardlines
- Sending unit
- A Tanks Inc. sending unit (0-90 ohm) mounts to the tank and is included
- Filler neck
- A factory filler neck is used, cut off and joined to the tank with a short length of 2" filler neck hose
- Filler neck and cap is included

I'd like to know more about the car. What you did to equip it for a road racing and 200 mph!

Tank fits in the stock location using the stock mounting points - no clearance issues. You cannot run stock exhaust with a muffler in the back because the tank takes up that space. No price for the tank, just figure out how to get it and it is yours! If you take a look at the aluminum tank in the video posted above, the steel one is just a bit smaller around the panhard bar area, but very similar size otherwise.
