[AB] Need ECM + Engine Harnesses
Need ECM + Engine Harnesses
So to complete my carb swap I need an ECM and engine harness for my 91 Camaro. Rest of the wires are there, and I dont think my old carb harness will do the trick (Speedo, cruise A/C wouldn't work.)

I think I have one from a 90 T/A with same options but no chip in it. I'll get back to you later
Re: Need ECM + Engine Harnesses
Sweet that'd be awesome. Chip isn't a huge deal, lots around and really it's only going in for the speedo and to get power to the car. I'm sure ill be able to get one easier than finding another ECM.
Also forgot to mention it's a 5 speed... -_-

You don't need a ecm to get the speedometer to work just a FYI, use a vss buffer
Re: Need ECM + Engine Harnesses
How does the VSS Buffer hook into the car without the ECM? I did not get the luxury of looking at the harness before the guy pulled it so I didn't see how it was all connected.
I might be able to get it back from him in this case as I doubt it will be useful on his car.

The tpi speed density 1227730 had the vss buffer circuit built into the ecm. Disregard the optical signal going to the ecm.
Re: Need ECM + Engine Harnesses
Thank god I prefer not to use an ECM as it really will serve no purpose in a carb'd car. I'm gonna check today to see if the harness on the Pass Side of my old car hooked into the HVAC or if it was simply the engine harness only.
I know on older cars the harness for HVAC was completely separate.

Re: Need ECM + Engine Harnesses
Any 90-92 harness will work, so get a cheap V6 or TBI harness
Buffer boxes are very common. All TBI cars had them and all EFI 85-89 Fbodys
HVAC disconnects near the box. Its power, ground and AC signal from the controls
