boxed lcas

i promised those of you who wanted to see some boxed lcas that i would get a picture and here it is. i did this with a stick welder...my first time too. i think they turned out great!

I used 1/8" thick steel and it worked great for me.

you should drill some holes in them , just like 2 in each one, just incase some water gets in there. I think their are two holes in the top of them . I dont remember but put some small hole sin them . good work , they look good.

instead of contouring the ends in a rounded shape i just cut the rebar off flush and squared it up with another piece of rebar so it looks like this |________| . when i did that it left two little holes that werent welded. i figured i would leave them just for draining purposes.


i used 1-1/4 inch flat rebar that was about 1/8th thick as mentioned earlier.

when i did this i ground the underside edges of the rebar to make the bar sit flush with the lca. then i welded them. if i didnt grind the edge down the rebar would have stuck up a little. i wanted it flush.

1/8 inch = 3.175 mm.

That's probably a little thicker than necessary. If you mic the LCA, that's all the thickness you need.
