Worth it?

Does anyone see a plus to boxing in the tq arm or the panrod arm? What thinkness should be used? Like 1/8th inch or so? I would love to see some pics if anyone has done this!!!

Thanks guys!

I boxed my LCA's and panhard bar, i noticed a diff on takeoff, with the lca's boxed, dont know bout the panhard bar tho, and never done a torque arm.

Kevin

also i used 1/4 , but didnt wanna go out and get something else, yeah i think 1/8 is prob still overkill.

I have already done my LCA's. I noticed a good amount of traction difference. I am working on building LCA relocation brackets too.

I just didnt understand what the pan rod arm does and didnt know if the tq. arm was flexing enough to cause traction issues.

Thanks

The panhard rod (GM calls it a "track bar") keeps the axle centered under the car. Without it, the axle would sway to the left and right - had that happen once, bolt fell out of the panhard rod at the passenger side's bracket! Luckily I was just backing into my driveway. I'd assume (uh oh) that boxing it would primarily help out the car around corners, and only a little bit for a 1/4 mile launch.

If you try the torque arm, let us know how it goes! Did you upgrade the torque arm bushing yet? I noticed a big improvement when I put the ES polyurethane bushing in- the car seemed more sturdy even when I was just going straight!

How'd you guys handle the "rust possibility" when you boxed the rear lca's? I haven't done mine yet b/c I don't want water/whatever to get trapped inside, which would cause the lca's to rust away from the inside-out. Know what I mean?

ummmmmm, I havent worried about the rust issue. I didnt even primer them after I welded them. The car has been sitting since last season in my back yead. (ooopppppsss!) I have a second set if they rust to bad. I guess coat them real good. I left about 3/16 of a inch on eash end undone. I dont know if you could get some primer in there or just keep some kinda wd 40 or something on them.

I am gonna replace the tq arm bushing and my LCA bushing when I build my relocation brackets. I am thinking of a way to mount the tq arm solid. I dont know if it would hurt anything by elem. the bushing. I would reimbrace the crossmember heavily.

Thanks guys

With the edelbrock torque arm yes, slightly though. As for the panhard bar brace.I just did that for xtra rigidity.I figured it wouldnt hurt any.Since its still a open design & boxing it just makes it stronger.Although the torque arm, brace, panhard bar +LCAs were all done several months/years apart.
