Best welding process for cyl heads?
What would be the best welder to weld in cc's on a cast iron cylinder head?
I have a miller 135 amp welder with only flux core steel wire for now. I have a spool of .025'' mild steel and a spool of 308 in .023'' in the mail and am going to get some more Argon here soon.
should I get some .035'' 316 SS and maybe that will work?
I don't think shealded mild steel or SS beads will do it.
Do I need a stick welder for this?
So far I haven't had good luck with cast Iron and the flux shealded .035'' wire. I know it's not ment to be with those 2.

Why exactly are you welding? If it is to repair a crack, I have my favorite method. I usually take a six inch long piece of iron, and weld it to one end of the head that is cracked. Then I use this handle to throw the thing in the trash.
