Interesting idea

i was thinking it would be cool to replace the 2 ttop pieces into 1 piece and remove the center metal strip.. Kinda like the supra setup... perhaps eliminate the glass altogether and fab a solid top thats removable

Nice idea! But already been done. If you do a searh for "targa top" youll find some info and pics on it!

people have done it but knowone ever seems to finish it.

It would be a very simple project, just drill out the spot welds that hold the center piece in place...done.

Your gonna want reinforcment like sub frame connectors or a roll cage, our stock unibodys can't handle it and will fold.

This is a point I've been very curious about in many other 'targa' related posts I've read. The center section is merely held in with spot welds, yet they supposedly contribute a great deal to structural integrity. Doesn't make sense to me.

90% of our cars is only spot welds. The T top bar is 2diff layers just like most of the other body support spots.
