parking brake relocation

i'm looking to relocate my parking brake. i'd like to at least move it over slightly to a similar location much like the c5 style. i'm building a custom center console and would truthfully like to relocate it entirely to either the drivers side door area like a c4 or even a pedal assembly much like a stock g body similar to that of a grand prix or otherwise.

anyone have any suggestions on how to go about this and not loose the stock properties?

I've never done it nor have I put any real though into it but since it's all cables it shouldn't be that hard.

Figure out where/how you're going to mount your lever/pedal to determine where you need to make the hole to pass the cable through. Then determine the path of the cable so that you can place mounting/guide hardware. Then you have the length of cable needed and can start figuring out what car had a cable of the correct length with the correct ends on it.

I'm willing to be the "which cable fits" research part is going to be the longest and hardest part.

i'm willing to make a new cable if need be. i just don't want to comprimise the stock intended purpose just to move it.

does the parking brake on a 91 rear disc adjust the rear brakes like those of earlier years or is it pretty much a straight forward parking brake?

As long as everything is tensioned properly and pulls in the correct direction, I don't think you'll compromise anything.

The PBR calipers operate the parking brake differently than the cast iron calipers. I'm not even certain that the parking brake cable (the one that goes from the lever to under the car) on the aluminum caliper cars have an adjustment on them, I know the 4th gens didn't.

The 4th gens used an automatic ratcheting adjuster assembly inside the console as part of the lever pivot. Sometimes you can confuse them and you’ll be able to pull up the PB lever all the way with no tension (I had it happen once about a week after I bought my ’97 WS6 and then never again)

The under car adjuster on teh 3rd gen setup is only supposed to compensate for brake cable stretch, the rest is supposed to be done by the rear brakes self adjusting
