MAPP gas?

I tried using propane, but no go - I'm just looking for something cheap, to 'fuse' (almost spot weld) 16ga mild steel tubes together, so I can transport them to my welder to finish welding.

I'm wondering if MAPP would get hot enough to fuse metal?

mapp gas gets a little hotter than propane but i havent had much luck with it either. i use an oxygen acetelyne kit with a brazing rod fo temp welds on thin metal. small kits are not that expensive on sale at home improvement stores.
