Instrument swap

Has anyone attempted putting a 90-92 camaro instrument panel in an 89 or older model? I like the look better but I understand its electronic speedo vs mechanical. I am getting the entire parts car so that would not be a problem.

The entire cluster is a different shape, so unless you plan to do a lot of custom fabrication, you'll have to swap the entire dashboard.

The wiring harness is going to be different too, but my guess is that all of the wire colors should be the same, so it shouldn't be hard to figure out the wiring.

I was doing some searched to locate info on how to wire my 91 cluster to work with my engine swap. I found a thread where some guys did take the newer cluster and put it into and 89 or older 3rd gen. Only problem is I can't find the thread(it's like 3 years old)

Anyway, I can't remember what the guys said about making them fit, but one guy had the wiring codes for both clusters so they could wire them and make them work. I e-mailed him and he sent it to me. I have the small piece of info if you like.

Could you send the info to me or post it, I am planning on doing an engine swap as well, and maybe a dash too. (I'm still in the reasearch phase).

Well I tried to post it up a couple of times but the file is still to big. If I shrink it anymore you won't be able to read it. I'll just e-mail it. I need to figure out a place to host it.
