new battery tray?

Ok my battery tray is really rusty and it's driving me insane...i tried sanding it, using rust dissolver etc etc...Can i cut the battery tray out and weld in new sheet metal? Bc it looks like the tray just sits in between the frame..like its its own plate, but then you look from the bottom and it looks like its all one soild piece (tray and frame)...help

Yes you can remove it....but it has about 37 spot welds you have to drill out....I know because I removed mine to make room for my intercooler..

What exactly do you want in terms of pics...

Here is the deal...Its a water to air intercooler...Im sure guido has a pic of it on his webpage...

I took that intercooler and CUT out my battery tray...If you look at the IC its the outlet gives it a C shape.I had EDE weld some brackets to it and it bolts to the front frame rail...the idea is that the C section wraps the frame.....the outlet from the turbo runs down the lower radiator rail area and into the IC...then the outlet is above the steering box and goes from there to the TB...SUPER SUPER clean compared to how guido had it and Because of the way I designed the tubing there is NO WAY for the tubing to ever BLOW off..

But Where its wrapped around the battery tray I took some ALUM sheet and Made filler panels and painted them to match the EC...so you cant really see the IC because 90% of it is inside the front quarterpanel...To install/remove the unit you must remove the quarterpanel...

Ill try to snap some pics this week...
